This is me all excited because I finally got Infected Mushroom's Psycho on vinyl!

And not the original, but the bad-ass live mix.

Sweet jebus!

My mail just came to my work, and now I can't wait to go home and sift through all the goodies.

www.chaosunlimited.co.uk rocks. So does this track.

Pete <- can't wait to get home and rock it out in my apartment.

It's on a goa set I have, too - I think its a Goa Gil set.....

I found out where the audio clip from "Noisemaker" came from - a 2000 movie called "Lost Souls", starring Winona Ryder. It was the only good part in the whole movie.

"Play your music. Play it so loud no one can sleep. NOISE MAKER!"

Poor Winona. Her movie career has really gone to shit. First that shop-lifting incident, and now I hear she's starring in an up-coming Adam Sandler movie.

There's plenty of other psy acts and producers out there, but out of everyone that I've listened to, Infected Mushroom is still on this seperate level above everything else.

To add to Variant's query:

Are big goa acts not allowed into Canada on account that they will warp our minds?

I see IM, Astral Projection, Hallucinogen, etc. playing in New York, Montreal, actually everywhere but here. Why is this?

cuz toronto is the small time man... it's like growing up in moose factory or kenora.

live mix? that's the best mix of psycho by far. talamasca's version wins some horrid award for total trash.

also, anyone heard any new infected mushroom tunes? sorry guys but i think the streak of good music is completely and utterly over. they all stink. vocals, stupid samples, stuff i complain about in pop-trance music. its just horrible. what are they doing?!

not to slag IM but have you listened to your share of Crop Circles? Tim Schuldt? Chi A.D.? Dimension 5? I find they all do that sound with more flare.. but that may just be me.

I picked up 'S is here', although it's more suitable for Fridays at System than at a psy trance party.

What a boring track.

thats the most tolerable of the new style!

try out these and barf:

yahel & infected mushroom - electro panic
oforia - million miles away [infected mushroom remix]

high quality sound of course... bad execution. stupid samples on both. compared to what they've done... well there's no excuse

i hear IM will be in toronto in march... regardless of their most recent production work, i'm sure their "live" show is still something to see

I think the folks from Etnica have put their Crop Circles alter-ego to rest. I haven't seen anything new under that moniker since '97. And the Etnica crew are producing more of the technoey stuff now-adays.

Dimension 5 rawks through and through, but when was the last time we saw new material from those fellas?

Oh.. Dimension 5 are toast. But they did release enough material to last for a while. Psychic Influence is still a regular on my playlist.

and yeah.. Crop Circles only had one full release i think.. kodos could probably clear that one up. However.. the release was so absolutely killer that I don't think it'll ever be out of style.

D5's LABEL is toast.. crop circles had two 12" releases and -thats it- but there's tons of unreleased out there. rumours of a full-length crop circles album persist until this day!

there's been so much shmeg about this on 604 its hard to know what to believe. Apparently the album was made.. it was just never released as their label folded right about the time it was done. Sounds hoaky to me but you never know. s'all about the vocal goa anyway.

If this is true then 2002 will definately be the year for goa/psy in toronto. April, May and June all have big acts coming in for various parties.. what a leadin to what'll most likely be the best summer for goa/psy parties yet.

yeah hopefully the big acts can do their rounds, make some converts, and then we can get down to the serious artistes
wink.gif
unlikely, i know, ha

um anyway, other bit of interesting news - the very first infected mushroom / hallucinogen co-op track was released just a few days ago, on the new twisted compilation... the originator of the sound teams up with the innovators to make...? well, lets hope its not club music.

oh ya - about D5... around the time blue moon folded the new series of albums from D5 and their side projects did make it to mp3... then the rights were sold to nova-tekk and they re-issued it, not 6 months later... the two albums that DIDNT make it are by 'hunub-ku' (very trance-oriented with some blatant knockoffs of big tunes like gamemaster) and 'electron wave' (who only deserved a sampler 12" unfortunatly)... RA and D5 were put out. the albums aren't bad... they just sound so similar

i still prefer transdimensional... and that was a great release - 3LP! i like it when they go that extra mile.
