WUDDUP???

I just got back in from Wrestlemania X8!!!!! It was awesome!!!!!
We had seats on the floor but being short was a serious disadvantage, thank god for the Jumbotron! The matches were pretty good, Hogan vs The Rock was wicked, except the crowd was booing the shit out of the Rock! Near the end the crowd hot pretty lame, there was barely any yelling for the Triple H vs Y2J match. I think they should broadcast Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler cuz it gets real boring during parts of the matches when all you can hear is someone beign slammed to the mat. I had an amazing time even though I think there have definitely been better Wrestlemanias in the past.

I gotta get some sleep now this has been a VERY long day!

on an (un) related note, Mr. Perfect threatened to put me in a headlock on Friday night. I didn't even provoke him! (much)

worst wrestling ppv ever..........there is no fawking heels and that is the best part of wrestling

the only reason i watched it was for the nwo angle, you know total anarchy

but even that they screwed right up

what now??? the old fart hogan coming back out in the yellow and red

what a load of crap

anyone else notice jyd and vince carter were right behind the announcers jim ross and lawler?? that was hilarious, jyd getting all hyped up...........

fuck that, that was wicked. Hogan is going back to the light side, he's gonna be in the yellow attire im telling you.

That was like the 1st civil wwf match in like 10 years.

Ok.
First off. thanks to Joey and his bro for tix and company

Second. To many errors, Flair couldn't hit anyone with steel pipe if that person were 8 feet tall.

Third. It was the biggest treat to see Hogan work. That match was the best I've seen in eons, especially the fans cheering for hogan..the heel!! It was great, the look on The Rocks and Hogans faces were priceless!!!! Like "This isn't supposed to happen, WTF!"

Lastly. The overall event gets 6/10, if it wasn't for the match mentioned above, it would have got a 4...last match was boring...no new angles, no suprises (NWO beating up hogan...big deal!)
:D

hogan being the good guys is so 80's

the biggest problem with wrestling is the same old stories

it would have been awesome for the rock to turn heel or something along the lines, man i miss the anarchy of the wcw

thats it for wrestling after tonights horrible ppv, i will no longer watch the steroid injected real american hero story lines

I'm predicting the new angle: Hall and Nash are Taliban members, and the Rock and Hogan must fight them to save America.

PS - Word on the street is HBK will be joining the nWo on Raw tomorrow.

It's a soap opera for straight men.

Just got back from the Peel Pub. Watching it was fun. As a kid, wrestling was believable because we were all young, impressionable doinks. As I sit and watch grown college guys scream at the tv, it reminds me of how fucked up this world really is.

Please tell me no one on here actually enjoys it for more than the kitsch and irony factor?

The acting was bad. The faces exaggerated. Hulk Hogan was my hero until I noticed that no one actually really hit anyone.
And the women are portrayed as a lower, fuckable species who pull each other's hair to the amusement of the sexist commentators.

I mean... these guys all go to fashion shows and share interior decorators. Do people actually believe it's real or are they just lost in the fantasy?

They're probably all sipping gin and tonics together at Mint et Menthe right now.

I heard a radio interview where the Rock said he and his "enemies" like to go out after the match and booze it up at a club somewhere. Maybe that's why Mr. Perfect put you in a headlock, Pete. There wasn't any real fighting involved in the match so they needed to release some aggression on you.

Ya. I loved the part where Hogan was winded about 1 mintue into the match. Or all of Hogans missed spots and ultra sloppy work-rate.

F*cking Marks.

Hogan looked every bit of his age in the ring.

my thoughts:

1. if you watched the PPV, it was hilarious to see so many people in the front few rows with signs. some were advertising (website addresses, etc.), some were fan-signs (i.e. "hulkamania rules" et al.), but there were SO MANY joke signs. my favourites were "WRESTLING IS FAKE", "ROYAL YORK ROOM 1103", and "THE ROCK ATE MY BABY".

2. there are too many title belts.

3. hogan vs. the rock should have been the last fight. the crowd totally fell asleep after that match.

4. rick flair was disgraceful. he should be playing shuffleboard in florida.

5. it's scary to think about the message that these shows send to kids. aside from the fighting, the cheating, etc., there was one point during the tag-team match where one of the guys went up to that really hot chick manager on the other team. he slapped her on the ass, forcibly kissed her against her will, and then threw her down onto the cement. and the crowd CHEERED!!! i mean, hello!!! that was basically a textbook sexual assault and half the rednecks in north america just got the message that stuff like that is ok.

6. since when do the *good guys* cheat? i know they're trying to make hogan a bad guy but so many kids still idolize him. i couldn't believe the hulkster was using foreign objects during the match.

7. hogan should have won. or at least they should have made it so that hogan *could* have won but something strange happened to prevent it. to see the rock beat the hulkster in a fair fight was sad to see. (no one is supposed to be able to beat hogan after he "hulks out" and does the finger wag ... no one dammit!!!).

i watched the ppv and found it to be pretty good... not the best but far from the worst (best for me was SummerSlam from Calgary a few years back)

anyone else notice Hulk looked hurt, for real, after the match? he was trying not to, but he kept grabbing at his side from the time the match ended until they walked out... and he was trying not to its like he'd be rubbing it then realise and stop.

seeing him (and fliar) out again was cool, but its going to get tired fast if thats the best they can do now.

Wrestlemania was HYPE!! Had floor seats, tough to see at times, but great action.

Loved the Hogan match, some classic old-skool wrestling, classic Hogan kicks to the face, eye pokes and raking-of-the back!

Not as many broken tables as I would have liked.

What a fun event, who knows when I'll ever see a live show like that again!

It was deffinitely very interesting being there,
so many people crammed into that place, it was awesome!

but it felt like the only time the crowd really woke up was when Rock and Hogan were fighting. then they fell silent, and the HHH and Jericho match was silence until the very end. So strange!

I still had a good time, but damn I was tired by the end, sitting in those seats for four hours at a time is not very fun.

I thought the undertaker Flair match was surprisingly entertaining! Although moves were botched, it was one of Undertakers better matches of the year!

And there were deffinitely many botched moves throughout, Maven missed his one main offensive move.

I think I had more fun at the last Smackdown, but I was glad to have been there to see Wrestlemania live, be with the crowd, hear all the guys yelling 'We want Puppies' and the girls behind us chear for Stephanie (clearly they must be her only fans.)

Deffinitely a good night though.

Oh, and my favorite part of the entire evening was when Pete intimidated the kid in front of me to get off his seat (he was standing on it). The kid looked so dejected and angry. So classic :)

HAha, did he show the kid his puppies? or his 24" pythons?

and was there any rowdiness after the event - I could just picture a large crowd of 20-30 year olds all pumped up ready for some smackdown. headlocks in the street, body slams onto cars, pile drivers on the grass, bouncing off the construction fence pretending it was the ropes, etc.

1. There's always funny signs like that.

2. Yes. There are WAY to many belts.

3. Either it should have been the last fight OR they should have started up HHH's music right after Hogan and Rock went off stage. The excitement of the Hogan/Rock match would have carried over to the title fight if they didn't have that STUPID women's match in between that TOTALLY killed the crowd.

4. Ric Flair worked harder then almost EVERYONE there that night. By no means should Ric Flair be a regular wrestler (which he isn't) but his performance (wrestling wise) was head and shoulders over the younger (albeit still old) Hogan.

5. If you thought that was bad Will, you should have watched wrestling about 2 years ago.

6. Good guys will often use objects after the bad guy uses them first. They're still pushing the whole "WWF Attitude" thing.

7. Hogan shouldn't have won. Wait for his retirement match when he comes out in the Red and Yellow. It was supposed to be a "passing of the torch" sort of thing. But the WWF forgot that Hogan's torch burned out a few years ago while the Rock's has already been burning strong for the last couple of years. The crowd reaction last night was predictable for the simple fact that this was Hogan's Wrestlemania return. It was a novelty. Those reactions will wear off quickly when the novelty wears off and people realize that Hogan is an old man who messes up a lot in the ring. See, the WWF got what they wanted. Casual fans like yourself Will watched the match at the expense of the hardcore wrestling fans. Are you gonna watch the WWF again this year? Probably not. But now the hardcore fans who have become accustomed to good matches are gonna be made to suffer at the expense of trying to draw the casual fans. But again, after the novelty wears off, they'll stop watching. So now you've lost a good chunk of the hardcore fans as well as the come and go casual fans. The WWF are where they are because they built their more recent stars (Austin, Rock, HHH, Jericho, Kurt Angle) not from trying to get quick boosts from aging stars like WCW did. And look where WCW is now. It boggles my mind how the WWF can be making the same mistakes that led to WCWs downfall. All one has to do is look at the ratings and PPV buy rates over the last year.

they don't build the stories enough anymore..i remember the fued with the british bulldogs and greg the hammer valentine/brutus beefcake ...that lasted almost half a year until the final climax at wrestlemainia 2 when the bulldogs won the title...there is no real big build anymore and the matches are shit...rvd should hold the title for a year or so...fuck all these quick title changes every month or so
(but i hardly watch wrestling now..used to love it when i was kid...but if u catch a couple of shows like i did recently cuz of the buzz..its not hard to know whats going on..)

You know I was there! I was at Wrestlemania VI! Couldn't miss this! It was a great show! Rock v. Hogan should have been the Main Event...

Had to play at Mad Bar right after...

All I have to say is "Woooooooooooooooooo!"

(PS: I think Rick Flair has kept that scar on his forehead open since the 80's...)
