upgrade the video card. throw in a radeon 4850 or nvidia gtx 260 for $200 and you should be good to go. I imagine you could put up an 8800gtx card really cheap on ebay or something, that's what I have in my laptop and I play everything at max.

WOTLK raiding is awesome. The various tiers of size and difficulty make it as challenging as you want it to be. Really enjoying this expansion as a more "casual" player, though I manage to fill in the extra time with arena!

Can you suggest something? I'm looking to spend around $6~700, I'd add a video card after the fact...

    Anyone else enjoying 3.2?

2nd week in, and we one shot Lord Jaraxxus in 25 man ToC. We haven't tried Heroic yet.

Went in to give Yogg a shot on 25 man last night (first time in after the patch), and booya, downed him on our 4th attempt. Only the 2nd guild on our server to down him Horde side. After wiping on him sooooo many times, it's nice to finally have conquered Ulduar :D

Also been working on the 10 man hard modes for the Rusted Proto-Drake. I just joined a group that had many of the achievements already, but just this week I managed to get Assembly of Iron, Hodir, and Thorim hard modes down. Still have Freya, General and Yogg this week to try their hard modes.

Nice to finally be in a guild of this caliber :D

with a more casual raiding guild as I couldn't bear raiding 6 days/week in the summer.

Just the mimiron hardmode to do in 10man Uld, before rocking Algalon.

Our 25s are plagued by bads, but we still managed to get Reg ToC25 finished. (during the champions fight our core 15 were always the ones up to finish off the rest of the npcs, it was sad.)

Have you guys been reading about Cataclysm? Zomgosh i might reroll Alliance for a Worgen char.

I wouldn't say we're a "hardcore" raiding guild as we only raid 3 nights/week, but we're still 2nd horde side and have a few server firsts.

Our core 10 man got their Ulduar hard mode drakes last week. I missed out on Mim hard mode though, but we're going again over the next week. Love the raid lockout extension option. Going to try Algaon in a bit, but not pushing it too much, as we're concentrating on H ToC 10's.

We got ToC 25 man down no problem (though only on the 2nd week since the instance bugged out and the floor didn't break so we couldn't do Anubarak until the following week - stupid blizz), but heroic is a different story. That shit is hard if everyone's not on their game. We're in the same boat you are with 10-15 really good players, and 10 odd that are okay, but not good enough for heroic mode, so we haven't even downed Northrend Beasts yet. 10 man heroic we're on Anu'barak and should have him in the next week or so. It's just getting to him with enough attempts left that's been an issue.

Cataclysm looks pretty bad ass. Looking forward to all the phasing and how the look of the continents will change.

If it's so overkill why do I get such horseshit framerates? I'm talking like 25 fps

Are you running anything that accesses the net at the same time like torrents?

Nope. My latency is always less than 100ms

If you are raiding with all the video options maxed out then yes your framerate will plunge to sub 30fps.

You have to remember that all particle effects are particularily taxing especially when everything else is maxed out. There are subtle changes you can make that will certainly help you keep max graphics without losing much in the way of fps.

I usually play with texture filtering on low, medium view distance and low ground clutter and weather effects and this seems to keep things sharp.

Also make sure you are running all the latest drivers for your video card from the manufacturer's page, latest Direct X etc

    Is anyone still playing?

    I'm 4/10 ICC10 and 6/10 ICC25. It's hard to get any farther in pugs.

It really sucks that nobody wants to to ToC/RS/OS/Ulduaar anymore since you can pug ICC now. I can't really commit to a regular raid schedule because of work.

Got our 10/10 in 25 man around March before I took a few months off. Came back to find the guild disbanded. Picked things back up about a month ago with a new 10 man raid guild and got our Bloodbathed Drakes a few weeks ago. Most people are gonna take a big break till Cata is released.

And yeah, doing Putricide/Sindy/LK in a pug is enough to make anyone stabby....

Finally got 4.0.1 patch running last night... What in the bloody hell have they done to this game? Now I'm going to have to re-learn how to play all my toons (I have 5 80s and a large number of lowbie alts). Not impressed by the talent tree overhaul. (And the fact that a bunch of my gear is going to have to be re-enchanted or re-gemmed because spell power is now INT and hit rating gems are suddenly blue instead of yellow.) Some changes are good, but I think the bad outweighs the good. At this point I'm left wondering if it's worth relearning all of this or if I should just let my subscription run out and wait for The Old Republic to come out...

I especially love the little advice sentences that are now part of the spell description telling the user when they should use that spell.

Meh, change is good imo. Yes, it's a pain to relearn how to play your toons, but if you have 5 lvl 80's, my guess is you've probably been mashing the same buttons on autopilot for the past 6 months.

Plus it gives you two months to learn how to play your toons before Cata comes out so that on launch day you can actually enjoy the new expansion vs struggling with how to play.
