I went last year and as far as I know I was the only Canadian breaks DJ in attendance. I had a good time, met some good people, went to some killer parties but spent a lot of money.
I looked into it again this year, but opted not to go because I heard that the sale of WMC passes were down a good 50% compared to last year and with the current exchange rate it would be a big blow to my wallet.
There is alot of people to meet, good and bad. Watch out for all the wanabe try hard kids who run around flashing business cards bragging about their residency in some barn in the middle of butt fuck Idaho......hoping to get a free record or better yet a gig out of you.
Don't take every free record offered to you or else you will be bringing home 300 + records that you wouldn't even consider wipping your ass with.
Keep you eye out for daytime events with free alcohol......Redbull threw a penthouse party last year with Bad Boy Bill and all the free Red Bull and vodka you could drink.
Don't be suprised if someone is filming a porn at every second club or event you attend.
If you are gonna get drunk at night hit the liquor store and pre-drink a little before going to the clubs. The cheapest Corona I found at any party was $7 US but the average price was $8-9 US. I was also with Jelo at the Moonshine party when he paid $5 US for a coke (no alcohol) just one third of a can in a cup full of ice!!!!.
Hope some of this comes in handy. Have fun and whatever you do make sure you hit the Release Management party. I'm not sure what they've got planned this year (there is probably info about it on
http://www.releasedjs.com ) but last years event had Rennie Pilgrem, Simply Jeff, Tayo, General Midi, The Stanton Warriors, Deekline.....ect..........pure crazyness!
