Wireless home theatre (just the rear speakers)

I think most people on here would stay clear of any wireless setup for speakers. I think there's good potential for interference and it's probably the last thing you want if you have friends over. Is there any way to run the wiring along the baseboards?

There is such a thing as flat speaker wire. Which you can glue to the wall and then paint over. It won't be perfect but it's a lot neater than normal wire.

The rocketfish kits suck ass. I tried but it kept shorting out my receiver. Finally got it working and it sounded piss poor. Underpowered shit

Depends on what your reason is. If you want clean lines, have kids that could mangle themselves in wires, have a wife/girlfriend who says "no drilling!", etc., then wireless might do you well.

If you expect the same performance as a wired system, you're fooling yourself. But if you've got other "lifestyle" or space constraints as many of us do, then you might have to look into these. Also, depending on the volume of sound that you need, it might be enough and might not sound as bad at low volumes.

You can get a paintable raceway or flat wire you can paint the same colour as the walls, as some have already pointed out. Can you get into the ceiling or under the flooring / carpeting? Could you hide some of it with some creative floor covering?

I have a Sony wireless setup for my home theatre and it works fine, the only time there is a problem with signal is if something gets in the way of the IR (i think)receiver. it's a little underpowered but you can modify but I find it does provide nice surround sound.

My problem was that I have a big room and didn't want wires travelling along and for the money it was worth a try. it's not perfect but it does a more than ample job for movies and TV

I was thinking about getting the Sony Bravia 5.1 Channel Home Theatre System (HTSF2300)

it has wireless back speakers as well.....

still deciding if worth it

I had purchased a Sony HD tv, so I received a $200 rebate when i purchased the wireless system and another $300 rebate for the TV. at the time it was regular $1300 and then it went on sale for $800 so I essentially got it for $300which is why i made the jump. To me it was important to be able to have everything communicate to eachother well which is why everything is sony.

IMO I would never spend over $500 on the wireless system otherwise, unless they've given it more juice
