    Going down at another company

    The bet:

5 Large Burrito Boys to be consumed within 30 minutes
    Medium Spice
    Drinks allowed
Guy doing the eating contest is normal sized... 6'0', 180. Reasonably fit. 31 years old.
Over $7,000 in bets have been placed. Minimum bet is $100.

I think it's possible and am thinking of betting on completion. Market is heavily favouring non completion, so odds have moved up on completion.

    You can bet on

    1. Completion / Non Completion
    2. Amount of burritos consumed in 1/2 hour, (rounded up to halfs)

Odds are being offered on various combos. What do you folks think? I think the medium spice is key.

    no way
I bet on non-completion all the way

what's in the burritos? rice, quac, the whole shabang?

30 mins isn't long enough man

When i was in honduras(i'll try to get pictures up of this), my travel partner ate 3 giant burritos(about the same size as this guy) -- one beef and bean, one chicken, and one seafood. The challenge was to eat these 3 in 1.5 hours, and just barely made it.

30 mins doesn't allow for the food to get down to "process"

no, can't be done. Like not even close.

It's entirely possible. Competitive eaters can consume a mind-boggling amount of food in short periods of time.

Does this guy have any past experience? If not, I would say he's way too ambitious and will likely fail.

I once won an eating contest against two 200lb+ men.

But I have nothing of value to add to this discussion.

Except that the individual participating will be in a world of pain following this.

I think the tortilla and bean content are also relevant factors on whether this noble feat can be attained. The fiber in beans is not readily digested and can bind water in the gut. So the more beans a person eats, the bigger the undigested mass in their stomach. The more they drink, the more water gets bound to that undigested mass. The net effect is a larger subsequent sense of fullness. Not to mention the time tested realities of beans and gas.

I am thinking that under normal circumstances and hunger ranges a person could probably put down 2.5-3.0 of those bad boys in 30 minutes if hungry. If possessing the freakish appetite that sometimes comes with skinny people, 4 to 4.5 is possible. I suspect that the last 1.0 to 0.5 will be the burrito that broke the camel's back and that if swallowed, buritto chowder puke will wash down bay street. It may be important to stipulate in the pre-contest contract that no puking is allowed for it to count.

If he does not possess that freak skinny person appetite I would not say it is possible.

I suspect that those in this thread who say it cannot be done are lacking testicles and discipline.

He's a bit of a ringer. He has eaten 10 quarterpounders in the past in one sitting, but I think the time limit was longer.

If you think it's can't be done, what's a number you think is possible?

    Current Odds:

    Failure: Straight bet 1:1
    Completion: 2.60:1

    Number of Burrito's completed:

    1 N/a
    2 N / a
    2.5 1.25:1
    3.0 1.50:1
    3.5 1.75:1
    4.0 2.12:1
    4.5 2.30:1

    you bonds traders.

    ps. I'd wager on non-completion.

edit: What's the line on time spent in the can afterwards?

i think the key would be too eat it as quickly as possible. if you wait too long and it hits your stomach you are fucked. of course if you eat all 5 you are fucked too.

    but in a different way.

    like, up the ass.

    by your own giant burrito-poop.

Were the 10 quarterpounders eaten after drinking? That has an impact on appetite. Would he then be allowed to drink prior to the contest?

This brings up the matter of performance enhancing drugs. Can GHB or THC be used to facilitate hunger? GHB increases the rate of gastric emptying and as such he would be able to get more through his system than normally possible. If one were so inclined they might use it to tip the scales. THC might increase hunger but the sense of time dialation would not help him keep his eye on the clock.

ah the performance enhancing drugs of eating contests.

At this point, I'd say 3.5 for non-completion.
But to be totally accurate, I'd want to know the bean/rice ratio of burritos to be consumed.

LOL @ Deep...way to bring science into the whole equation!

having only ever heard of these legendary burritos, I'm guessing fail, but it'll be close

Awesome questions Deep. The 10 quarterpounders were non drinking. It was done in the office at his desk.

Folks thanks so much for your input.

The contest has been postponed from this coming Friday to next week Friday because he apparently has to do shit with his kids this coming weekend. I will keep you posted on how the odds move and also if he completed it or not.

Black Science Labs uses all its available resources to help find answers to important academic questions such as this.

I would say that this is a very promising indication of performance. 10 quarterpounders at a desk with no chemical enhancement is commendable. One way to quantify feasibility would be to gauge the weight of 10 quarter pounders / time they were eaten in against what 5 large burritos weigh / in 30 minutes.

The next wager should be on eating 5 unsalted Premium plus crackers in under a minute. Fully swallowed. No drinks allowed.

there is NO WAY he's going to eat that in 30 mins. Where do i put money on it?

Yeah, I think five is doable...it's all about getting it in ya before your stomach has a chance to figure out what going on...but the spread beween 4 & 5 should be bigger...I'd take 3:1 on completion...but I suppose I'd need to see said burrito

I know a guy that can eat like hell and was drunk, and failed to eat 3 in 1 hour. Your friend will acheive critical mass at 2.5 burritoz, and this will end his sad quest.
