word.

Big up Pablo, always really helpful.

Dekoze is wicked too.

The Bloc has always had solid staff: Illfingas, Tej, Pat, Locuss, Chris....not a single ego in the joint.

Personally i prefer the new Bloc cuz i always hated having to wait on other people playing their tunes in the jungle room...plus, it's spacious now...

i just think people should give them time to sort the place out...it's new.

As far as i know they're still working on getting the air conditioning fixed (cuz it's hot in there)...

Yes it is hot in the new shop!! But I remember freezing/boiling my ass off more than once at the old store (all for the love of the records). Not to mention it smelled like piss and i had to watch out that the rats wouldn't try and steal my lunch.

I understand what Smile is saying and I also know that he probably hasn't been to the new store...at least i don't think I've seen you there! Back at the old store many wacky characters went in there regularly with the old "I have this on promo, so i'm cooler than you" story and yes, those guys suck. The new store has much less of that going on from the clientele and you won't ever see that from a staff member! But don't forget the nature of the dj business means that every record store will always get those shady characters hangin' about trying to come off like they're god's gift at one point or another. You just have to kind of ignore them and just do what you do...

But, like i said, if its a problem to talk to us directly about something, you can always e-mail me directly at spinz@easternbloc.com

i miss the old bloc but i do like the listening stations and not having to wait and blah blah blah. the new location is definitely missing a certain personality that the old shop had. as far as their inventory goes....it seems that they have been a bit complacent with their drum and bass selection. i don't go shopping every week but it's funny because when i do go, i always see the exact same records. there is rarely anything new.

big up the homeless guy up front.

true enough, pablo! i haven't been to the new store yet...but then again, i don't spin jungle anymore so i probably won't be either (play de record has a better hip hop selection).

i wasn't talking about the staff in ebloc being the problem, obviously they're there to sell records, so being an ass probably would mean they wouldn't sell shit. my comment was more geared towards the aforementioned idiots, but if you say they don't come around anymore, then i think the shop is definitely better for it!

The Bloc has always had solid staff

i dunno, sasha was kind of scary back in the day...

I have to say that I love the new place and find it WAY more customer friendly then the old ebloc.

First of all the listening stations are way better then waiting around to hear a tune. Also it's way bigger so you're not bumping into someone/something everytime you make a move. Everytime I've been in there I've gotten nothing but friendly service. No attitude.

I also find less attitude from other customers in the shop because everyone's doing there own thing rather then breathing over your shoulder. I found more "I'm Gods gift to djing" in the old shop.

Keep up the good work ebloc. And remember people, this is a record store not a club, lounge or treehouse.

That's how it is at Eastern Bloc. Its funny how everything that is better at the new store people come and tell us all the time yet when something is negative...we have to see it on a random message board.

Here's the deal,
if there is a label you want us to carry...come and tell us.
if there is something that we're missing...come tell us.
if there is something you want to see improved on the website...
come tell us.

Its not that hard, all of our staff are so easy to talk to, and its our job to bendover backwards to try and make you happy. We thank all of the people that have stuck by us through the move as we are still in a building process. Our move happened right in the middle of a recession so its been tough to get everything perfect...but rest assured that with spring around the corner, we have loads of improvements which should aleviate some of the problems you guys mentioned.

1. We are returning to 2 shipments a week so we will have the records on time and on the shelf at the same time our before anyone.

2. Get ready for the new Jungle/D'n'B e-mail list. Just send an e-mail to spinz@easternbloc.com with "add me to the Jungle List" in the subject. We will be using this to inform people of New Releases, Upcoming Wicked tunes, Future release dates, New labels and artists to look out for. Also just send any complaints or "wants" to this address.

3. The Website catalogue section is being updated. Get ready for a new easier to use Database coming soon. Also you will see an exponential improvement in the amount of soundclips on the site. We should be back to having everything soundclipped very soon.

Other things i wanted to point out:
The new store is set up with the dj in mind. You have listening booths so if you know what you want, you can be in and out of there in 10 minutes rather than having to sit through everyones "top 40 tech step". We still have a system though, you can infact swivel the speakers to point straight at your head and crank it if thats what you need to hear the records!

Also, for the future we would love it if you guys just came in, introduced yourself to us and told us straight up what you want to see at our store. Or if you prefer e-mail me at spinz@easternbloc.com
Much easier for everyone than having to reply to a random web post...

Respect, Pablo.
I think the new Eastern Bloc is nice and all staff are friendly and great. I miss the old Eastern Bloc vibe but that's about it.

My only issue with the new e.Bloc is that THEY DON'T HAVE INTERAC OR CREDIT CARD MACHINES!!!!!

What's up with Cash only?

Bah, if ya get to see the smiling faces of Pablo and Victor, and the devious grin of Robb everythings not all bad.

I think anyone who feels the "bad, promo sucker attitude" is just sniffing for trouble. Every stinkin time I've been at Eastern Bloc, old or new, everyone is wonderful and its just a good place to be. And I don't even buy records!

The only part I miss is the tape girls...come back Lily!

i've seen nuff people walk into ebloc and get treated like shit just because they don't really know a lot about the music. i'm not saying the people behind the counter are always the ones doing it...in fact it's mostly the ones who are in the "i'm-mystical's-best friend-and-i-have-every-promo-and-his-shit-is-on-my-lips-because-i-lick-his-asshole-all-day" club that are the ones doing that kind of thing.

honestly, it's a real turnoff not only for the store, but for the entire jungle scene when people who are trying to be a part of it get slagged off because they're new and don't know a whole lot yet.

and trust me, people don't just talk about the attitude in ebloc on message boards, i hear people talking about it all the time.

Mark, I think you're living in the past.

Sure there were jungle groupies (male ones too) back in the day who would suck up to Pat and Chris so they would look "cool" but those days are over. Everyone is pretty much on the same page these days and has respect for each other. Time filtered out the wannabes and made people who are in it for the love of the music realize that we're all on the same page and we all need each other's support to keep this scene alive. While there are still some elitist attitudes out there, they're far and between.
