bacause americans are ignorant....
No, they have just been encouraged to not get involved, not look too deep, and to see themselves as being blessed & special and should have unquestioned privileges that reflect that.
That being said, I love Americans, I hate the current the administration who act in their name, I hate their laws on media ownership, I think corporate power in the US is too concentrated, and I think they are experiencing a full frontal assault on all of what it traditionally means to be an American citizen, and for that they have my support.
When you hear people spit out what's considered 'anti-American' rhetoric, please don't confuse it as referring Suzy Jo Smith who lives on 123 Simple Street in Springfield Iowa. The anti-part is being directed to the commander-in-thief and the (fairly) special interest group surrounding him who have hijacked the Whitehouse to serve as the launch point for their very specific & precise & destructive pro-neocon policy. They are the true anti-Americans, and should be labelled as such.
I know it's hard not to blame the people for it, I find myself doing it sometimes also, but that only displaces the angst towards targets less deserving and really undermines what is really trying to be accomplished.
