My sis' bf recently bought a pair of decks and is asking me where to get hip hop records.

I'm a tech house dj so I would tell him the obvious, Play De.

But I know there's gotta be shitloads more places. Including used.

Anything from Toronto to Barrie is fair game.

    Thanks for your help

It really all depends on their tastes...

Play De is the best in imo. Lots of rare imports to be found there.

    Have them try:

Also, get them schooled on the breaks to enjoy crate digging at the local second hand stores...they pay less for the real gems and originals that are found by the pound. Remind them to buy two copies of a hot joint if possible in case they wanna get ill with it later.

..took the name from a song and I grew up with late 80's hip hop....

you can always find out more about someone by looking them up using 'members' button ;)...I'm not hiding.

But stores downtown, Play De isn't the only place is it?

Kops n Vortex is good. (queen between university and spadina)

    it's good for new hiphop.

Vortex at Yonge and Eglinton is great for used records- no new stuff

honestly, in downtown TO- Play De has a monopoly...most other stores are 'dance' music stores with a small hiphop section.
