concrete beach (at uwo) on a warm day in april, when everyone who has been hibernating all winter all of a sudden magically reappears, smiling, shades on, ready to ignore all their daily responsiblities and just chill with their friends.

wow. i am going to miss that so much this year

such a good thread!!!

places/things that make me happy:

my cottage nothing like sitting on the deck, with a book, a beer and the sun. or around the dining room table, having a fabulous dinner that goes late into the nite, with 10 friends.

camp i spent 15 summers of my life there. in fact, could be my #1 happy place. something truly in the air there that makes you smile as soon as you turn down the camp road. i thought i would get married on the point, by the lake at sunset someday...but the camp got sold this past fall

shopping on Queen frivolous yes, but a queen st adventure is always full of laughter, friends and complete silliness

thursday nite tv a tradition for years with my best girlfriends. tv, pot, conversation....a nite that gets us through the week.

weekend mornings in bed nothing better than waking up to the strong hug from the one you love and knowing you can stay in bed for a LONG time
biggrin.gif

christmas morning presents, pjs, relaxation, coffee and family. i love it.

dancing makes me feel so good and definatley puts a smile on my face.

and last but definately not least.....
kevin no matter where we go or what we do, i'm in my happy place when he's with me.

I'm feeling kindof bummed out today, so maybe this will be therapeutic

-Black Bull on a summertime, weekday afternoon, when almost everyone else is at work.

-lying beside mcbee who's in her candypants on her couch for a whole a Sunday afternoon/night.

-Riding down the street on my skateboard, listening to my discman, no matter what the destination (even the hospital at 3am
tongue.gif
).

-Walking into a day of empire-record-like fun and adventures when I worked in the rock department at Sam's

-Getting home to my parent's in Peterborough, and realizing just how much I needed to get away from the hecticness of Toronto and get back to see them and my little brothers.

-That moment when I'm on the greyhound on Sunday night, and the bus turns onto the DVP and I know I'm back to my life in the big city (as they call it in peterborough)!

-Being super tired, sleeping in and cuting class, then waking up right when my class is over and reading a lil' love note left by my girl.

-driving around and chatting w/ mcbee (except when she gets road rage
wink.gif
)

- just being able to close my eyes and picture the hottest, funnest, most intelligent, silliest, loving girl ever and then open my eyes and see her.

I could keep going. Wow. This actually helped for the record.

-Driving and listening to good music. I could honestly drive all day if theres a good cd on. And I'll still be noddin the my head the whole way.

-The Rocky Mountains in BC. The most beautiful part of Canada and one of the most beautiful places in the world. Theres nothing like seeing something thats a mile high.

-The moment when a warm up DJ is wrapping up and everyone is waiting in anticipation for the big headliner to come on. And when the crowd errupts when the new DJ comes its magic.

-Being in the DJ booth. Both playing and observing. I'm totally at peace in the booth. It feels like home.

-Crying in someones arms.

-Being at a bar with a group of friends having a few drinks and having one hell of a laugh.

-Smoking a spliff by myself, as well as with a good friend in the midst of philosophising.

-Lying on a warm beach at night, looking up at the stars.

-Watching the sunrise.

-Staying at my Grandmas.

Yes! How many classes did we miss just to sit on the grass? And someone always had a portable stereo, adding to that sense of rediculous laziness.

Others:

Chilling by the Thames river, watching the ducks feed... every once in a while one would swim out too far, get caught in the current, and be swept downstream, away from his friends... it was so tragic.

The first time it gets warm and sunny in the spring and you walk to the park to play frisbee.

Walking to school but taking a different scenic route, and before you know it you've missed class but you don't care.

Going up north in the winter, putting on your snowpants, boots, and scarf and just walking through the kneedeep snow in an apple orchard.

Doing shrooms in said orchard and being scared that Farmer Brown is going to beat you with a shovel.

Renting a jet-ski on Lake Muskoka and just riding around all day.

Fishing in Lake Muskoka.

Lying on the beach, or going for a swim and fighting the waves in Cancun after a hard night of serious partying.

Damn, we're starting to make life in Toronto sound boring.....

Happy Places:

On my couch watching TV and listening to one of my cats purr

Playing a new game either on a console or computer

In my boyfriend's arms, especially when he reaches for me while he is sleeping.

Out with good friends with a drink and good conversation.

On the ramp just getting off of a plane in a brand new place wondering what is in store for the upcoming adventure.

My boyfriend's cottage, what a beautiful place to be.
In a bookstore

In a motor boat listening to the sound of the waves and watching the shoreline pass by me.

Tommy and Dan's old sketchpad back in the summer of 99.

Pete's place for Monday Night Raw with Tommy, Johanne and Pete, no matter how bad the program itself can be(I wish I didn't work Monday nights now

in a room with 20 pencils hitting paper, it's a sweet noise.

being by myself and listiening to the beatles or paul simon while painting, drawing, sculpting.. and being so tuned out to the rest of the world I don't even notice people walking in the door.

siting on the couch next to my Grampy as he made cirlces with his fingers on my hands.(I still think of you often Gramps)

getting into one of those intense laaughing fit with my sister.. were we can't stop and our stomachs start to hurt. this is all at the expense of our parents ofcourse.

walking through the subway listening to bad ass dark drum and bass.

spooning with my girlfriend naked under a warm duvet. warm skin soft hair and nothing to do alllll day

eating with my girlfriend.. especially creamy pasta in the Village

watching YmR with my Grandma and falling asleep together in late afternoon (I miss you Nanna.. soap opera's just aren't the same)

Being with my best friend.. laughing and laughing.. We have something special.

Having a pint by myself in the Village.. thinking.. people watching.. sketching..

but other then that stuff I'm miserable.

- My friend Anth's apartment near Yonge&College. I came here Friday and I was meant to leave Sunday but I just can't. He's moving soon. I'll miss this place. When I'm here I don't feel like I'm "at Anth's house".. I feel like I'm home.

- Wading into a lake somewhere in Algonquin as the sun goes down.. mmmph.

I don't really have any other happy places. Fucking depression.

so many great replies. like basic said, writing this out was really therapeutic. it made me realize how many things i've been putting off for far too long.

I lost my happy place a few years ago... it was snuggling my forehead against my angel Jesse's (my retriever) forehead.
But I have made do with a snuggly bed with TONS of pillows
smile.gif

I also agree that sitting on the end of a dock at a cottage is definitely a happy place
