lets just say that my most nerdy quality is my inability to pass up the chance to point out stuff like this! in fact, i found a spelling mistake on the back cover of the tv guide this week and had to point it out to everyone in the room.

other than that i:
-was in gifted
-can't see without my glasses
-asked for a globe one year for my afikoman present
-loved that globe with all my heart
-used to play a game with my brother where my mother would call out a word and we would both have to look it up in the dictionary and whoever found it first won
-love cbc radio 1 and find commercial radio annoying
-would sleep with evan solomon or avi lewis at the drop of a hat
-totally revel in canadiana in all its forms, except for maybe the wolf/loon sweatshirt phenomenon
-make my friends birthday cards out of construction paper which look like something a grade schooler would make. have been known to spend upwards of 3 hours on one
-love puns
-used to get agitated every time i would get a rave flyer because there was invariably a spelling mistake or six.

edit: oh yeah, i am really uncoordinated and don't play any sports.

Ah, where to begin.

- I've got a Dragon Magazine CD-ROM in my disc drive right now.
- I regularly get into arguments about whether or not the West End Games version of the Star Wars RPG is better than Wizards of the Coast's. (It is.)

- I saw the movie "Serenity" three times in the theatre (twice by myself)
- I own all of William Gibson's novels
- While studying political science my friends and I wrote a TV pilot for a buddy cop show called "Hobbes and Locke," and distributed fake posters around campus for the premiere of "Mao: The Musical" ("It's a cultural revolution!" screamed the critics)
- My current job requires a thorough understanding of Robert's Rules of Order.

ooOOO nice!

i started an English Students' Association in University- we had a drunken spelling bee to raise money. I dressed in yellow and black, like a bumble bee. I also succeeded in getting some of my profs drunk.

oh, and we made t-shirts for the Nerds Association I co-founded. We used the
symbol and replaced it with Nerd.

My friends and I used to name Chinese food restaurants around UofT after controversial or famous Chinese figures. Wen Ho Lee, Shang Khei Shek, etc.

Oh! just remembered ...

One year I dressed up as a Romantic poet for Hallowe'en. I wore all black with a velvet smoking jacket & neck scarf & a period hat, carried 'opium' with me and drank from a bottle of red wine all night. When someone asked me what I was supposed to be I took out my pocket-sized book of William Blake's poetry and read the person a poem. I was 19.

And I am even nerdier because I point out yours ('penultimate' ring a bell?) :p

- I am the worst out of anyone I know for pointing out spelling or grammatical mistakes (esp. over msn)
- I enjoy copyediting
- I wore glasses from age 3 to 14 (and for the first few years also had to wear a patch over one eye :()
- I am fashionably challenged (I prefer high-waisted pants )
- My ex and I used to play this lame computer game where you identified countries on a map...for hours on end.
- I have exceptionally poor physical coordination. In elementary school I managed to throw a baseball bat in such a way that I slammed myself with it in the stomach.

I'm sure I'll think of more, but in the meantime, he's another reason:

My friend Amy and I taught ourselves sign language (or attempted to) in grade six.

- I got the Academic Award in grade six, and the Student Award in grade 12.
- I have to cut the tags out of all clothing, since my skin is so sensitive.
- I buy my shoes at the comfortable shoe store (aka the old lady shoe store)

Grade School: peer conflict mediator. i actually volunteered my recesses to help resolve other kids' playground spats. I also worked in the school office during my lunch hour, answering the phone, while the secretary was on break.
