    • I like Steve Coll on war matters
    • Foreign Policy has great hubs for Afpak and governance issues
    • Sullivan as a gatherer of all kinds of news and opinions
    • Conor Friedersdorf always impresses me with his writing and thinking
    • Greenwald of course is incisive and engaging
    • Simon Johnson's blog on economics is essential
    • And if I wanna know about how the militia/patriot nexus is doing I look up Neiwert at his own blog or at C+L (which seems to be getting more of his attention these days)
    • Matt Taibbi is always a fun read
    • James Laxer is an old prof of mine and provides a solid and reliable left-view on Canadian politics
    • The American Conservative has a great blog section

    Skepticism/Science/Conspiracy Theory:

and I also keep tabs on George RR Martin's blog and the one dedicated to the upcoming HBO series based on his Game of Thrones

i like two blogs for music but dont want everyone to jump all over them because they release promo tracks all the time. is that selfish? :p

Are the Promo tracks legal as in they have the artist permission to post them?

that's certainly up for debate based on the few messages back and forth on his page...but more often than not, 'yes' (still won't tell)

I'm interested in looking at succesful blogs that are on the good side of the piracy issue. Genre of music doesn't matter just to see some different layout approaches and design choices.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

Well there is RCDLBL and Ants in My Trance and another one I visit regularly but I can't remember the name. All have free downloads, pretty sure all are legal.

HAHAHA! Was in a facebook thread about the tanning bed related death making the news lately and I posted how I always see a pale girl in a tanning bed as a total waste, since I think they're much more attractive when they're paler...:) (Mary Louise Parker - should that girl ever set foot in a tanning salon I would be one pissed off dude!)

    Someone posted this blog:

    Pale Is The New Tan

    funny shit in there..;)
