Apparently they were showing the unrated version in the fall at a theatre in Toronto. I meant to see it, because I was told it would have made up for the crap I saw in the rated version...

Johnny Depp should win.

My own opinion - I don't think he deserves it for this and it's a bit too much of a stunt choice (wild card voting happens pretty often with the oscars). It was a great mesmerizing performance, but usually the Academy likes agony over comedy (notice how 4 out of the 5 best actress Oscars had women in hysterics?)

I don't know. I thought that this was up there with Rushmore as one of his best performances, and it seemed very natural.

I hated House of Sand and Fog, but I did think Ben Kingsley was really good in it.

Murray did a great job, but I just get the vibe that it wasn't strong enough. He didn't seem that much different from several other movies I've seen him in. I don't know, I felt like I was seeing him play a similar roll in a different movie while I was watching this. I'm not saying I didn't like it, because I enjoy Bill Murray. It's hard for me to explain. Maybe I just go by gut feelings.



And Sean Penn won of course.

I think Sean Penn deserves it, for an actor who has played so many significant roles so well, he deserves it. Frankly I'm just suprised its his first.
