Vegetables you hate

People who don't like something particular is likely based on not experiencing it the right way or not understanding how to manipulate it properly.

couldn't agree more!

As a child, I didn't like tomatoes, baked potatoes and peas - which were all common things on our plates.

But after learning to cook, i see why.

Most tomatoes we got were gross pink mc'd looking things.

For potatoes, my mom would stab it a few times with a fork and nuke it in the microwave. No flavor, and just nasty.

Peas were always frozen no name, or green giant if we were lucky and then briefly blanched.

it's really no surprise that I didn't like those vegetables. But, i've always loved trying new foods and because of that passion - my palette has been extended to what it is today.

So today I see a bit of an ad for McDonald's wrap or some such concoction. The tagline goes something like this "we're putting so many delicious things in here you won't even know you're eating vegetables"

how lame is that????

brussels sprouts sauteed with okra, lima beans, kale and cilantro is what people eat for every meal in hell.

turnips, parsnips and brussels sprouts: the holy trinity of BLECH. that being said, brussels sprouts cooked with bacon? not bad, my friends. not bad.

i used to really hate beets cos i thought they tasted like dirt, but i had a beet epiphany last year. especially golden beets. gimme! there is this restaurant at dupont and dovercourt (picea) that makes a mean roasted beet and goat cheese salad. to be fair, chuck goat cheese in with nearly anything and life is better, but it's delicious and you should try it.

If you ever make that at home, toss some mint in w/ the beets and cheese. Trust.

^^^ Yeah they are turning pallets into everything as an environmentally friendly option for used pallets. I thought the same thing as you for some of the uses they came up with. Really pointless suggestions that didn't look all that great either.

Turnips and parsnips need to be roasted. Boiled parsnips smell like unwashed genitals.

Brussels sprouts are just little cabbages. Chop 'em up so that they're essentially shredded, then fry them with some cubed apple bits and ground sausage.

Baby corn creeps me out. I find it really disturbing. It's like a corn fetus.
