I can't wait until I can go back to Europe. I'd much rather visit there then some sweaty palm tree filledisland for some reason. Go ahead, call me weird. I said do it!

Am I the only one who likes winter? I love the cold, I love everything about winter. I'm certainly in rush for it to end.

Amen, sister. I'm hitting the 4.5 year point w/o a vacation.

I'm thinking I'm gonna suck it up and boot somewhere all inclusive right as soon as tax season ends.

It's just not healthy for someone to work full-time for that long w/o an alcohol-induced beach blowout...

So what constitutes a vacation? Most of my vacation time is taken around thanksgiving/christmas and a couple of days in the summer to go up north to see my folks. It's a vacation becuase it's not work, but if going to another country is what a vacation is then I haven't ever had one. Except when I went to Mexico with the Girl Guides when I was 12. Woohoo.

I'm talking no more than four-five days off in a row (those four to five days are always taken at christmas)

Family time = Magical, stress-free fun zone.
NOT AT ALL A MAGICAL, STRESS-FREE FUN ZONE.

I don't even need it to be somewhere really stinkin' warm. Just somewhere where stress doesn't permeate the atmosphere like a rank fart. Hence, why I was inquiring about de-stressing techniques.

I'm super pumped about the zoo now, I have something to look forward to at the end of the week. That's usually all I need to keep myself going. (Although palm trees, admittedly, would be really frickin' nice.)

Go to a spa and get a massage or something. I dunno what it's called, but my sister and her boyfriend went to one where they stick hot rocks on your body, and it's supposed to be really relaxing, if you can withstand the scalding hot pain for a few seconds.

jesux, there's lots of day/weekend vacation destinations around toronto. you can take off for a night or two to a spa, or bed & breakfast and just chill by a fireplace and read a book, have some good fresh farm food, and things like this.

HOT ROCK MASSAGE THERAPY

Hot Stone Massage is an Ancient art and possibly the ultimate experience in relaxation.
The use of hot stones and different massage techniques, create a state of balance and deep relaxation.

Hot Basalt & Lava Stones are placed on different parts of the body as well as used to penetrate muscle tissue. The Hot Stone Massage improves blood flow, flushes away toxins, calms the nervous system and is ideal for sore backs and stress related conditions. Aches melt away and the body feels refreshed and restored back to health.

Hot stones with essential oils is a treat that must be experienced. The heat of the stones infuses the air with rich aromatic scents and aids the uptake of the oils beneficial healing properties. This is a richly textured Massage, a treat for the Body & Soul.

jess, might i remind you of the Great Collingwood Disaster of summer '03? do the words "peeling" and "hunks" and "charred flesh" ring any bells? how bout "lobster-iffic," "lobster-tastic," or "jesus christ i am flamey like a flaming lobster!!"

enjoy the snow and grey-sky misery while it lasts. your skin will thank you for it.

oh who am i am kidding. i would gnaw off my right arm if it meant i could go swim in the warm blue ocean and snuggle up with a book on a long white beach.

nothing spells relaxation like debate. whoo!

1. There is a greenhouse at allen gardens park at Jarvis and Carlton where I sometimes go when winter gets to me. It's beautiful and nice and warm in there.

2. I've had one of those hot rock massage things and there's no scalding pain involved, it's really nice. Except I have a weird thing about people touching my back when I can't see them and don't know when to expect the touch. Other than being a bit jumpy that way it was awesome.

3. Are you going to the City budget consultation things?

Haha. I dunno, man, I'm just repeating the info my sister gave me. She's into all that alternative / natural health shit. I don't need to relax. If I was any more relaxed, I'd be comatose.

If getting scalded by hot rocks doesn't sound appealing to you, you could always just go for a Shiatsu massage. You could get a week-end pass to one of those high-end health / fitness clubs, which include all those extra health spa type facilities, and aerobics / spinning classes. Spinning classes are really good for stress relief.
