So I kept checking the site for the new venue info...and now the site's gone?? Glad I didn't buy tickets.

Scam? seriously? you want the truth, here it is.
we lost the venue because costs were presented to us one way, then costs went through the roof by more than 600%!! We couldn't hack it, so we had to back out. However, we are confirmed for next year and will be doing it for real in 2003. sorry about this guys, we wish things could be different but we had no choice.
also, tickets sales SUCK! i know it's probably our fault with all the sketchy shit that's been going on..but after 2 Wintergalactic's and State, possibly the best parties in toronto for a very long time, you have so much skepticism. you all doubt our intentions, when all we are is party kids like you trying to do something different.
you are right, this party was hyped to change the face of the scene in toronto. it was sincerely meant to, in fact everything seemed a go until 3 weeks ago. things started going haywire and shit hit the fan. we are trying to make the best of it, and we will do everything in our power to make this experience amazing nonetheless. maybe no water park, but we've got some tricks up our sleeve still.
one thing we thought of was instead of getting a shitbox yellow school bus as a shuttle bus for the hotel guests, we will most likely be getting an executive greyhound or a fleet of limousines operating for 3 hour sessions 3 times throughout the event back and forth from the venue to the hotel. as well, breakfast is available at a really cheap price at the hotel as well, courtesy of our wheeling and dealing.
Also, Wednesday we will begin handing out free copies of MIXER, compliments of Mixer Magazine and the fine scammers of Wintergalactic. [jokes]
And, every person will get a free double cd with proof of purchase at the entrance of the venue. We'll probably give them out when you exit so you don't lose them or break them. Each disk has original music by the artists performing at the event. Like 16 tracks of wicked shit!!
We've always brought in superior talent that is not well recognized here in North America. There is not one sell out artist on the whole lineup, each one is an amazing person with an amazing attitude, as well as being phenomenally talented as well. Each of the artists are some of the world's most amazing talents, however they are not sold out and mega superstars. We brought in Tiesto first in 2000, Orkidea and Armin Van Buuren. What have we done wrong?
We don't do events for the dj's, we do events for the enjoyment of the environment, music and the people. It is about the experience everyone, not the dj's. We have to learn to get away from the common practice of believing that the bigger the names the better the party. Fact 1, names mean shit. Fact 2, the vibe means EVERYTHING!! PERIOD. When you come to our events we put all our time and effort into making the environment, atmosphere and vibe extra special. We take care of you because you are the most important people in the scene. You are just like us, and we treat you the way we wish we were treated most of the time. We do this for each and every one of you....we always have. The DJ's get paid to entertain us, and the list of talent that we've selected will blow everyone away. We told you Tiesto would rock, and he did. Armin, Orkidea...all relatively unknown's until we brought them. And all of them blew away some of the world's better known names. Names mean shit! Skill speaks, names entice. Big difference.
For those that know us, thank you for all your continued support and love. For the skeptics who have never experienced a Sonic State event and are going by word of mouth, get to know us a little. Send us an email and ask us questions. We get so many emails we will respond the best we can. Don't think we're ignoring you or anything, but the event IS like 2 weeks away and we're yanking our nosehairs out we're so busy.
It hurts to see the naysayers blowing their stacks, but we can fully appreciate why you are, and all we can say when things are done we'll thank you and you'll thank us. We do this for the people, because we are the people. We do this for the joy of watching everyone smile and enjoying themselves. We have always loved reading all the reviews and seeing all of you with joy and wonder at the night and the experience. Never has there been so much negativity, especially with a promoter who's always given more than expected and lost appropriately.
We need all of your support right now, we need you all to buy tickets!! Please. If no tickets sell than how can anyone have an event? Without your support Sonic State will wither away and die, and then we all lose. Hope this clears things up with all of you, if not then email us
IT's ALL GOOOOOD!!
No worries, the server went down because there were too many hits on the site at one time and we have a set amount of banwith we can use. we've solved the issue and it's all good.
we haven't announced anything yet because until things are on paper there's no reason to tell people anything...unless it's all 100%.
Everything is fine, there is a hotel, shuttle service, double cd to be picked up at the venue. *(makes it logistically easier instead of having them in stores.
There are exactly 2500 tickets in stores, and we are making 2500 double cd's which will be given to anyone who turns in their ticket stub.
Free event? Still happening this summer. chillax. Free parties take time to organize....i haven't forgotten about that and still vow to keep my word.
the venue is not on the flyer because we want people to go to the website. drives traffic there where all the info is, unfortunately sometimes too much traffic leading to a server crash.
speculation is understandable, sorry for the confusion. check the site for the updates soon.
