    www.wintergalactic.com brings up the following...

This directNIC Free Hosting account has been terminated due
to a violation of the directNIC Free Hosting Terms of Service.

Ick. I almost bought tickets for my (now ex) boyfriend's birthday. When they lost the venue it seemed to me like it was going to be a fiasco.

Their Sonic State website is still up.

    How convenient

I'll even go if it's at the Docks at this point.

Well, when the venue was announced, I went to their webpage, added up the capacity of all conference spaces in the venue and they totalled 5,506. The largest room could only hold something like 1,500, yet sonicstate was claiming on the Hullaboard that capacity for the event would be 10,000.

Now, according to nocturnal magazine, Wintergalactic is a one-night party happening at the Docks.

So....I'm paying 56 bucks for a one night party?

    I can:

    a) get a really big block of wood and knock some heads

    b) wait and see if the party sucks, then knock some heads

    c) demand my money back because that sucks

Oh, and I am a loyal Sonic State party - goer.

But this still pisses me off.

I hope they'll offer discounts...and partial refunds if ticketholders still want to go, since there's no way all those DJs can/will take part now.

The whole hotel thing sounded sooo cool...partying lots, being able to conk out in a hotel room, waterslides...guess it was too good to be true.

maybe I'll be setting up a sound system in the parking lot after all.....

We'll all have to wait until they get back from Miami to know for sure.

throwing a party of that size at that venue was too good to be true.

although..you have to respect the effort that these guys put forth.

Even though it didn't happen as planned, I still respect what they were trying to accomplish.
If they can pull it off next year, you bet I'll be there.

when i read about this thing i realized i didn't have two/three days of partying in me for the end of march and i thought i would be hard to pull off. looks like i was right.

    what was the original venue?

if people paid $56 for a three day event that is now one day, they deserve the option for a refund. of course nobody is buying tickets to an untested event that screams of problems just from the description.

you know what amuses me? the amount of new members who suddenly start posting to about how great sonicstate parties are and bumping their threads whenever one roles around. don't get me wrong, i had a good time at STATE01 and really appreciate them for bringing in Billy Nasty, but don't try to play us, it's lame.

and, if you say $50 gets you A, B, and C. then things change and suddenly it's only B, then you are ripping off the people who paid for A & C as well. regardless of the 'value' of B.

that said, i really hope you guys pull it off, it would be bad for the scene for this to fail.
