ok, i've been reading the dave clarke @ turbo thread and noticed that many of you are complaining about the volume.

i was there when jumping jack frost was suppose to show, and my ears didn't stop ringing until the next nite. you guys will probably have the same experience.

so if any one of you knows the owner or "cause n effect" organizer, could you please tell them about this problem. i wanna go there and be able to enjoy myself and not having to worry about the damage to my hearing. and i wanna tell my friends about the wicked friday nites, and be able to get them to go again.

thanks.

i have those fancypants earplugs (www.etymmotic.com) and my ears still hurt. in some places in teh basement (that half circle "room") the earplugs actually made it worse due to the shape of the room.

they do help, but nothing will help you in the dungeon. except standing in the middle of the dancefloor, then the problem dissappears for some reason...i think it's just the overall shape of the room and the fact that there is no sound deading at all in the walls, floor or ceiling, so it all just reflects and gets distorted if you are not on the dancefloor.

They had brough in extra equipment to up the sound level because they were expecting more people. Since the place wasn't filled it made it too loud and no one wanted to interrupt Dave Clarke.
It was louder than normal for sure.

bass needs to roam free in a very large sixed venue...turbo's downstairs isnt good for anything except hosting very small get-togethers...the sound was confined and it really should have been upstairsthe bank machine was upstairs too!)

i hadn't been to Turbo in about a year until last night, and even then it was when they had their regular techno/prog/etc. nights (friday? saturday? can't remember) upstairs....the volume was too loud a year ago and it's still too loud now - i was amazed that they STILL haven't figured this out....

What?! How can you guys complain about the volume levels upstairs? Its not even close to downstairs! Upstairs is much larger and therefore lacks some of the acoustics of downstairs.

I havent heard anyone complain about the volume upstairst so far. little*jungle*nut, you are the first one. If more people will, i'll definitely mention it to d'n'b productions.

last night - at times i thought the sound was amazing, but for the most part it was too much.
you don't need the volume to be that high.

but yeah... that was insane. Next time I go to turbo.. I'm gonna skip the earplugs and just pour some elmer's glue into my ear canals. Is there a test i can do to test my hearing ?

Can someone point me in the direction I need to go.. in order to get my hearing tested, po-leeze.

Even if the volume upstairs doesn't compare to the volume downstairs, that doesnt mean it's not unnecessarily loud!

I wore earplugs to hear Misstress barbara there last year, and thank God I did. Anyone I know who has gone to Turbo, whether it be up or downstairs, has complained about the volume of the music.

I just can't understand why, if it's OBVIOUSLY too loud, (earplugs, people COVERING their ears) that no one takes the initiative to turn it down. Can't they see that there's no enjoyment being had with music that loud? It seriously takes away from the entire evening!

Besides that, Turbo is KNOWN for being obnoxiously loud. Is that really a good reputation to have? I wanted to hear Dave Clarke last night, but when I heard it was in the basement of Turbo, I said nooooo way....and from the size of the crowd there last night, I'd bet a lot of other people thought the same thing.

I heard that Lifeforce no longer "owns' Turbo. If so, the new owners probably don't give a shit about sound quality.

Can Stretch or Hooker confirm any of this?

the sound last night for dave clarke:

myka - ok, a bit too loud at points
kenny glasgow - amazing! i don't know what he did, but it wasn't too loud, and it was crispy as bacon
dave clarke - the reason why my ears are still ringing at this very moment...he had the shit cranked...some of the basslines ripping out of the speakers sounded horrible

Lifeforce has been out of there for awhile now. The final Lifeforce Friday was at the end of last August.

airbag, do you work for DnB Productions or something?

Guys, its not the sound system that is too loud. If you'll put your home stereo on full volume you will think it's way too loud as well.. even if it's not more than 300W.
Whoever is spinning can adjust the master volume as he pleases.

And again, ever since the new friday nights opened upstairs, no one has complained about the volume. little*jungle*nut surprises me.
