Rep. Devin Nunes, the ranking Republican member on the House Intelligence Committee, spent nearly $57,000 on a trip to Europe for him and his staff to allegedly investigate former Vice President Joe Biden, records show.

The figures seem to confirm allegations made by Lev Parnas—a Ukrainian-born American who worked as a "fixer" for Rudy Giuliani before being indicted on criminal charges—who said that he helped Nunes arrange meetings with various Ukrainian officials to dig up dirt on Biden.

Parnas said he met Nunes in a secretive trip to Vienna, Austria, between November and December 2018, and put him in touch with former Ukrainian Prosecutor General Victor Shokin—the lawyer who was ousted from his position in 2016 after pressure from Western leaders, including Biden, who said he was not doing enough to combat corruption.

Reports filed with the Office of the Clerk for the House of Representatives show that Nunes claimed expenses for a four-day trip to Europe at the time in question between November 30 and December 3. Four entries for "commercial airfare" were claimed for Scott Glabe, George Pappas, Derek Harvey and Nunes himself.

If the allegations are correct, they could have deeply embarrassing and damaging repercussions as the committee Nunes sits on is the one investigating President Donald Trump in the Democrats' current push for impeachment.

It has since been confirmed by the the House Armed Services Committee, that Nunes will likely face an ethics investigation into the claims.

"Rep. Nunes met foreign officials on an overseas Congressional delegation using taxpayer funds which appears to be related to obtaining materials solely for the purposes of domestic politics," the letter said.

"Rep. Nunes is currently engaged in overseeing an investigation which it appears he is a fact witness, and which may examine his own activities meeting with foreign officials.

"Rep. Nunes is aware of the actual conflict of interest from his relationships to persons under investigation by the House Intelligence Committee for the purposes of an impeachment inquiry upon which it must issue a report, but failed to either disclose his conflict of interest with the investigation or that he has firsthand knowledge of the persons of interest to the committee.

Former White House counsel Don McGahn must testify for House impeachment investigators about President Trump's efforts to obstruct Mueller, U.S. District Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson ruled.

  • Why it matters, per N.Y. Times: "The 120-page decision ... handed another lower-court victory to House Democrats in their fight to overcome Mr. Trump’s stonewalling."
From the ruling:

Stated simply, the primary takeaway from the past 250 years of recorded American history is that Presidents are not kings. See The Federalist No. 51 (James Madison); The Federalist No. 69 (Alexander Hamilton); 1 Alexis de Tocqueville, "Democracy in America" ...
This means that they do not have subjects, bound by loyalty or blood, whose destiny they are entitled to control. Rather, in this land of liberty, it is indisputable that current and former employees of the White House work for the People of the United States ...

Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy is Pompeo going along with this crap...

Pompeo said the U.S. has a "duty" to investigate a debunked conspiracy theory that Ukraine interfered in the 2016 presidential election by hacking the DNC's network servers.

This is literally the narrative Russia's been pushing to reframe away any attention they actually did the hack, onto their enemy.

Why's Pompeo going along with it?

Pompeo was always a party before country guy. He knows that the ship is sinking, they've got to keep this narrative going for as long as they can, otherwise they're going to be decimated in the election. I honestly think this is the reason behind it.

I also can't help but suspect that the Russian infiltration into the Republican party is a lot more rotten than anyone suspects. If they can get a dialogue into the White House through various officials and infiltrate the NRA, where does it stop?

Anyone read about this? Hilariously, she's going to vote for dickstain again in 2020 (assuming he isn't impeached of course).
This whole cult of Trump is fascinating, apparently quite a large portion of the population is dumb as hell.
