Trump Presidency

Trump just said that 69,000 people signed up to attend his “rally” in El Paso. The arena holds 8000 and he thanked the fire department for allowing 10,000 in. Then he said the most impressive thing was that tens of thousands of people were just outside, watching on screens. ...and that if he weren’t POTUS, they’d be in a major war with North Korea right now.

If you take ANYTHING this fucking clown says seriously, you are lost.

Things I’ve learned from Trump this eve...

Dems want to ban cars and air travel! “Someone should tell them that you can’t get to Europe by train”. Lol! Not ONE of these fuck-tards could find Europe on a map.

Dems are all radical socialists. Dems want to rip the heart out of coal country. Dems want crime. Bad crime. Dems support sex-trafficking. Dems are for horrific murders (the WORST kind of murders) ...and boo to executing babies, too! BOO!

It’s enough to make your brain bleed. Un-fucking-believable.

HITTING A WALL

The U.S. government is going to stay open after all. Yesterday, behind closed doors, Republicans and Democrats agreed on a tentative budget deal that will fund the government and avoid another costly shutdown. Reminder: the previous shutdown was the longest in U.S. history. It lasted 35 days, cost $11 billion, and interrupted the lives of 800,000 government workers. Budget talks stalled when President Trump demanded $5 billion for a border wall, but Democrats said they’d only give up $1.3 billion for border security. The two sides had until this Friday to finalize a budget. Details of the deal haven’t been released yet, but it apparently includes $1.3 billion for physical barriers. While it’s still unclear whether Trump will accept the deal, it’s likely he’ll concede, because, well, he’ll want to avoid being blamed for another government shutdown.

There's a difference between between a congressional committee investigation (which was hampered by obstructionist republicans) and a counter-intelligence investigation.

Good morning

Emin just called and asked me to contact you with something very interesting.

The Crown prosecutor of Russia met with his father Aras this morning and in their meeting offered to provide the Trump campaign with some official documents and information that would incriminate Hillary and her dealings with Russia and would be very useful to your father.

This is obviously very high level and sensitive information but is part of Russia and its government's support for Mr. Trump - helped along by Aras and Emin.

What do you think is the best way to handle this information and would you be able to speak to Emin about it directly?

I can also send this info to your father via Rhona, but it is ultra sensitive so wanted to send to you first.

Best

Thanks Rob I appreciate that. I am on the road at the moment but perhaps I just speak to Emin first. Seems we have some time and if it's what you say I love it especially later in the summer. Could we do a call first thing next week when I am back?

Best,

Don

I will get Putin on this program and we will get Donald elected. Buddy our boy can become President of the USA and we can engineer it. I will get all of Putins team to buy in on this

So the Republican lead Senate (many with ties and taking money from Russian Oligarchs and the same people that have been letting Trump run wild for two years) found no evidence of collusion. I mean that's totally not like the police investigating themselves or anything

Meet me at my daddy's Manhattan office tower, hack my opponents emails, I'll deny I or anyone on my team has Russian ties (business, political or otherwise), and then the party I rode to the Whitehouse who's also riding me to cut taxes, balloon the debt and deficits, and stack the Supreme Court will do me a solid if I get impeached.

Also, no collusion.

And I would totally date my daughter, because that's absolutely normal to think and state publicly.

Nothing untoward here, ever! My lawyer, and all the others, were convicted not because of me, but but but... Her emails!!!

I don't think you need to imply that the Senate is in cahoots with Trump. No evidence is just that.

Mueller is just the beginning. House Democrats plan a vast probe of President Trump and Russia — with a heavy focus on money laundering — that will include multiple committees and dramatic public hearings, and could last into 2020.

  • The aggressive plans were outlined yesterday by a Democratic member of Congress at a roundtable for Washington reporters.
  • The member saidCongress plans interviews with new witnesses, and may go back to earlier witnesses who "stonewalled" under the Republican majority.
Why it matters: The reporters, many of them steeped in the special counsel's investigation, came away realizing that House Dems don't plan to depend on Robert Mueller for the last word on interference in the 2016 election.

  • Instead, Dems will use their new subpoena power to produce a voluminous exposé of their own.
Here's the congressional blueprint, as outlined by the member:

  • At least threecommittees are already involved: The House Intelligence Committee is taking the lead, coordinating with House Financial Services on money-laundering questions and with House Foreign Affairs on Russia.
  • Democrats are considering ways to uncover what was said in a Trump private meeting with Putin, "whether that's subpoenaing the notes or subpoenaing the interpreter or other steps."
On Trump family finances, the member said the president is "not in a position to draw red lines."

  • "I am concernedthat he may have drawn a red line that the Department of Justice may be observing."
  • "If we didn't look at his business, ... we wouldn’t know what we know now about his efforts to pursue what may have been the most lucrative deal of his life, the Trump Tower in Moscow — something the special counsel's office has said stood to earn the family hundreds of millions of dollars."
  • "Now, most of his stuff isn't building anymore: It's licensing, and it doesn't make that kind of money. So, this would have been huge."
  • "[T]he fact that the president says now: 'Well, it's not illegal and I might have lost the election. Why should I miss out, basically, on all that money?' He may very well take the same position now: 'I might not be re-elected, and so why shouldn't I ... still pursue it?"

Did you know that there is a book about his presidency? I found a whole review here. This book has caused many discussions and scandals.

There's been a few. Whereas Fear is interesting for its access to principals in the White House and the goings on there - Michael Lewis (of Moneyball fame) has a pretty interesting entry in terms of Trump books:

'The Fifth Risk' Paints A Portrait Of A Government Led By The Uninterested

"The thought that Donald Trump may have been totally unprepared to become president in November 2016 is one that's not new to those who have been following the day-to-day crises and dramas of the Trump White House closely.

But a case for this argument is revealingly and startlingly made by Michael Lewis in his fascinating — and at times harrowing — new book The Fifth Risk."

Basically goes across various super critical bureaucracies and all the ways the Trumpanista Know Nothings are endangering the country through wilful ignorance and neglect - at the micro level, in millions of ways, as they fuck over the files they have across the cabinet and stop government working or are literally turning it over to private interests who want the government to stop working in a place they have profit at stake.

Considering what's going on with his boss, this is a little surreal

I can see Trump's response. "Pompeo, barely know the guy, was originally hired by a Democratic. Low-intelligence"

Mike Pompeo warns Vladimir Putin is threatening democracies everywhere, says West took its eye off Russia

“Let me assure you that Vladimir Putin is intent on undermining democracies throughout the world. Make no mistake about it. We should be very candid about that. We should talk about the things that we can do together to make sure that our democracies are strong, that each of us takes care of our countries first and then works together to achieve good outcomes on behalf of freedom and liberty,” Pompeo continued.

The comments were in stark contrast with previous statements made by President Donald Trump, who has stressed that the U.S. should work to improve its relationship with Russia. A special counsel has been appointed to investigate whether members of the Trump campaign colluded with Russia to undermine U.S. democracy and influence the outcome of the 2016 elections. Independent researchers and the U.S. intelligence community have concluded that Russia attempted to interfere in the elections and exacerbate divisions in U.S. society.

Russia is totally cool, guys. Don't say otherwise, because they won't let you build a hotel or condo, and will release a pee tape.
