    Remember these tips:

Retard or mentally unstable wins over the better film.

    Epic wins over anything.

American Dream film always win (i.e. "cowboy" attitude, or "America is the bestest place evar", even if it is metaphorical and takes place in Scotland).

Mix them together, like in Forrest Gump, for example, and you are unbeatable.

    That's how I picked mine. :D

Don't forget the "He/She is reallly old and about to hit the bucket, so we better give him/her an award before they kick it"

  13. Sean Penn will NOT win the award for best actor.

From the Ministry of he better not.

    I don't think he will.

    Russel Crowe will...again.
  15. Most likely, since his only real competition seems to be Denzel Washington in Training Day. Will Smith is too new, Sean Penn comes across as pandering (to me) and what does it say to you when I can't remember the fifth nominee?

From the Ministry of gunning for Denzel.

Tom Wilkinson...he's more than deserving of the best actor nod. His In the Bedroom perforance was stellar, he's the most deserving of the five for sure.

Denzel might win. That'd be nice to see. I know my Mom would be happy. heh heh
  18. Honestly, it's long overdue for Denzel. I thought he was absolutely brilliant for his work in Malcolm X, Mo Better Blues, Mississippi Masala and is usually the best thing even in a shit movie. But the thing that pisses me off is that he'll get it for something that is not quite up to par. He's very good in Training Day, but he's playing against type, which is too bad, since it's the fact that he's playing a bad guy that gets him recognized, not the fact that he's had a solid body of work.

I'm also hoping that Halle Berry gets the Oscar for Monster's Ball. She did a very touching, full bodied (pun not intended re:topless shot) range of work in that film. She's a great actress and that was one of the more memorable roles I saw this year.

From the Ministry of as Klubmaster Will once said; "Hi my name is Highsteppa, and I really hate the Oscars"

I really hope Halle gets it. She deserves it. :)

i agree- halle barry has been good in a lot of things, but usually less artistic films. monster's ball is the best movie ive seen in years... i hate movies that 'escape' life, instead of being about it :)

i was also hoping to see Vin Diesel win! Did anyone see that car race movie he was in? his acting was superb but I know lots of people don't bother to go to non-mainstream 'art house' theatres these days.
  25. fuck that. I have two names for you.

    Mariah "NUTsO" Carrey

Tom "All serious now that I'm getting my ass divorced" Greene
