Toronto has some very nice clubs. I remember a time when there were only a handful of clubs downtown. I know everyone here like electronic music and tends to support the clubs that play it, but lets face it when comparing decor, lighting and sound places like system don't even compare. I have a lot of friends who like house or regular top 40 crap and I don't actually mind checking out some of these clubs cause some are really frinking nice. It is actually nice on a Saturday night to get dressed up, put on that cologne and strut downtown. What are the clubs you think are very nice? Lately I have been going to This is london and I can't believe the space it looks like something out of a movie. In the last 3 weeks I have been to inside, Jai bar, roxy blue, living room, hotel, casino lounge, film lounge and they all were very different and much better looking then system, no sausage parties there. I do like the music and dj's that system brings in but the place just doesn't do it for me, its no industry.
So tell me we all must have friends that don't like techno what clubs have you been dragged to that you actually liked?

industry wasn't exactly a posh club either. Infact I remember it being rather dirty.

personally I like the homely feel of system. As far a 'nice' clubs go -Life is one of the classiest joints in town. Madbar is quite nice as well, except that the lighting isn't anything special.

    Peace & love. D

System on friday's is my favorite club night ever experienced. I'm sure it could be "nicer" in some ways, but you can't beat the tunes being dropped...and that's what it's all about.

Well....there was that time at Twilo that tops everything [IMG]

I love System its practically my home away from home (Fri. or Sat. although I'm much more a prog-head), but I too like to dress up and go some place swanky the odd time. I have yet to try Jai Bar or Casino though, what are they like?

system really isn't that nice. you'd reallize that if they turned the lights on. it's not too bad, but nothing next to the really good clubs.

fez batik is by far the best.

I think Aria is a really nice club..lots of comfy leather couches.. nicest washrooms I've seen !.....oh and system will always be a favorite..I've had too many great nights at that place..I feel really comforatble there too for some reason and there's always a good crowd [IMG]

from my understanding twilo was nothing more than a dark room with a disco ball...save the robots party in new york was in a basement with one light, a dirt floor, exposed pipes & 7 foot ceilings...nicest clubs usually means least innovative & worthwhile experience...

i would post more here, but have to go...

lame comparison to bring system into the equation if you're trying to prove a point pest...

Im with CC on this one, Fez is funky. The layout, decor etc makes it one very pleasing space.

    V. nice club.
My girl & I were v. impressed at how clean everything was & how everybody had party manners; many smiling happy party people. Best night was when we saw X-Dream there.

Sorry but don't mean to insult anyone but can you guys read. My whole post was about clubs other then system that you like for any reason may it be decor, lighting, crowd or sound. I thought maybe you guys would have some friends who might not like electronic music there for might be forced into going to clubs you otherwise would never be caught dead going to, and ended up liking. There is over 50 clubs lounges downtown and you guys can only comment on system. Do they spike the water in there.
If this is going to be post after post with the answer system, I really think you need to get out discover what your city has to offer.

I liked MFN when it was still around (now it's some all ages shite). They had couches in the ladies room, and a pillow room! That was cool.

Studio 69 is nice. They have some neat decor. I also really like the interior design of G Spot. I think the snakes and the entrance look really cool, too bad the clientele sucks.

Casino Lounge was nice too, but I didn't like the people.

I guess all in all, Toronto does have some nice clubs, but the music, clientele and general attitude that prevails in those joints is a major turn-off. I can't last very long in those spots. Too bad.

Inside was a really nice place. Nice bars, hardwood upstairs if I remember correctly, an area with leather couches to sit down, snacks on the bar to pick away at. The music wasn't my taste upstairs nor downstairs, and the crowd .. ugh! Drag me there drunk maybe, but walk in sober? Never!

I thing Fluid is a great club.
I liked the layout, which is very similar to systems but on a smaller scale. Nice decor to. Everything else was pretty much average.

Aria was really nice to, although I little to much of a loungy feel to it.

roxy blu is a nice club. it wouldn't hurt to get some air circulation in main room but overall, it pretty nice. lots of couches, and if upstairs gets too packed, downstairs it sweet as well.

    my fav's are

    film lounge - awesome decor
    una mas - quite nice
fez batik - #1 in town

this is strictly for decor, music and vibe is an entirely different story

best decor i've ever seen in a club

High Bar (montreal) - when it was still around, the most beautiful space i have EVER seen

wish more clubs paid attention to decor, it adds to the vibe IMMESURABLY in my opinion. when i walk into a place and it puts an immediate smile on my face, i know it's gonna be a good night.

I also quite liked IT night club.

I think the problem is that when you have a club that is all style and no substance, people get tired of it really quickly. And stop going. At which point, they have to change it again. If you look at the history of places like System, and Industry, they lasted so long, not necesarily because of the decor, but because of the music and the clientele. And the fact that the clientele is dedicated to the music. Places that tend to play lots of Top 40 stuff have to rely on lots of razmatazz to keep the patrons happy. Or rather the patrons need all that to stay happy. At least the peeps who go to System, keep going, just cause they like the music. And that is what makes a good club, a place that I like going to. See?

embryus could have been a lot better.
the sound was ass, no lighting whatsoever.... I went there to meet the manager once during the day and place actually looked pretty shitty.

I was going to post that too [IMG]

It had a nice size, good layout, windows to the street, and a comfortable atmosphere.

I was only there for the Eastern Bloc nights, but the music and clientelle was slammin every time I was there.

    For big events > Guvernment/Kool
    Haus...you can't deny it

For an intimate setting > Element....those Steve Lawler sets there were unforgettable. I can't imagine Sasha down there. Nesta you bastard!
