Toronto Squirrels

Staff member
So after staring at my backyard bird feeder for a year, spending much of that time trying to keep squirrels from eating the bird food, I have drawn some conclusions about squirrels.

1. Black and gray squirrels don't like each other very much.
2. Squirrels get snippy to protect their food supply and will chase other squirrels off, driving them far away from the food source.
3. Some squirrels are smarter than others.
4. They seem to have no culture or leaders.
5. They dislike jungle, house and other genres with beats. One tried to nest in my attic for the winter and I changed his mind with some tunes playing through a small speaker aimed at a heating duct.
