don't stress - it took me three tries myself, and I took that picture.

Saw a bit of that and damn, this thing is going to be absolutely hilarious. Can't wait to see it.

I was hanging out at the Varsity and those posters are all over the place...one of the film fest employees something like, "check out the poster, at first I thought it was a woman."

I said, "it IS a woman." It actually took a bit of convincing.

ME-ow...........nice picture, girl!

I am dying to see 8-Mile-
I don't know why, but i am fascinated with the idea of a movie about Eminem's life starring him- pop stars who try to act are always amusing to watch in their films- they are usually terrible (Mariah Carey, Elvis) or suprisingly excellent (Mark Whalberg, Aaliyah).
At first i just thought it would be so bad it was good, but i actually read an interview last night with the director, and he said Eminem was really talented, acting-wise.
It could be a shocking surprise after all :)

I was also thinking that Eminem might be in town because this is the first ever screening of the film (i think it's still in post-production, a 'work in progress')

I'm just so intrigued by a prettyboy thug who writes angst-ridden poetry and can maybe even act (and is a millionaire ;) ) Yummy............

Okaqy, all of a sudden my plans for to0night were cancelled--so I want ot take the opportunity to check out a film fest film. What do you guys reccomend? and what is it likely that I can get tickets for at, like 6 tonight (I don't care how late the actual film is)

ararat...isn't that the mountain top that noah's ark (supposedly) landed on?

regardless, a few co-workers saw it last night and said it was kinda draggy, despite being only an hour and forty five minutes long.

i'm hoping to score a few tickets from work for this.

Thanks, I'm going to look at what these are, see what interests me... I was going ot ask for the website address, but fuck I know how to use google... but i don't have to line up for rush seats, do I? didn't I read that you can get same day tickets at the box office anytime? So, like for a 9 pm show I can get tickets at the box office at 6? They're just like 2 dollars more expensive right?

Every year figuring out the film fest makes my head hurt. That's why I never go. I've seen one film fest show ever (but i loved it!)

I lined up for 2.5 hours today at the Uptown to get my tix for "Spun" by Jonas Aukerland (director of "Smack My Bitch Up" and "Ray of Light").

As I approached the front, a lady has press vouchers for 8 tix. She offered me free tickets. Needless to say, I got two free tix to Spun at midnight tonight!

I MoFo'd tix once again. :D

Good things come to those who wait...

Has anyone see Ararat at the premiere? VERY curious about it. It was playing in Montreal but we didn't have time to hit Cinematheque.

Just saw "Spun" by Jonas Akerlund. Go Director's cut! With all the animated fisting, needle penetration shots, John Leguizamo masturbating, Mena Suvari's little poo, pig-fucking fantasies and the gay head drug dealer with his two yummy go-go boys (one playing with a raquet and ball, bored and all sexy).

I'll have to say that I have grown to hate Jason Schwartzman. Not only did he pick stupid roles after Rushmore, but his fucking pretentious yuppie band sucks too. I mean, go stick your trendy punk buttons and Burberry's scarves up your ass, Mr. Schwartzman.

I also thought he was so wrong for the part of the meth addict lead.

Mena Suvari's teeth were really ugly. And Brittany Murphy (the only one other than Mickey Rourke I cared about) didn't show up at the screening. Boo for that. I would've screamed "eatinchicken" to her if I saw her.

And I swear to God, after the screening in the lobby, Jason Schwartzman was holding hands with Mandy Moore. But I could be wrong.

Ah well. Michael Moore tomorrow. :)

I'm only online because I'm a loser who lost her industry screening schedule somehow, and am now trying to find the info online...

I enjoyed "Spun" a lot...it was fucking hilarious! The eye close-ups were too "Requiem"-like for me...and apparently when you get really high you end up in the "Ray of Light" video...but other than that, it was a total trip! (no pun intended)

I liked Jason Schwartzman in this movie...I couldn't believe after Rushmore he did that dumb college comedy or whatever it was (I can't even remember the name!)...I thought the cast was all-around great.

LOL.

I said the same thing to Jeremy Jive in the lobby.
[sarcasm]Like gee, did this guy direct Ray Of Light? Hmmm... Lemme think....[/sarcasm] Uh yeah, he used A LOT of his trademark techniques and camerawork...

And I feel like I just got home, and I feel...

Hey Jen, I was wondering, what else did he direct?

I was trying to compile a mental list bbut stopped at 3.
Ray of Light.
Smack My Bitch Up.
Favourite Game (I think...)

Anything else that I would know of?
Didn't he do Perfect by Smashing Pumpkins?

I accidently met a guy from the Internet Movie Database (I asked to borrow his program book). I started gushing over his site and told him how much I consult it. I'm such a nerd. :D

What was with the crazed Mickey Rourke fan? I couldn't tell if he was drunk, high, or just really really enthusiastic.

Anyone going to "Bubba Ho-Tep" tomorrow?

Celeb spotting: Helena Bonham-Carter on the patio of a restaurant...Prego, I think.

I don't know what you look like...I looked for Sunny but that theatre was quite large. I was exhausted anyway...and I don't think the movie let out until after 2 AM anyhow. :)
