This season's spring/summer clothes

*gag*

I just walked through the Eaton's Center to go to Shoppers, and while looking around at what's "In Style" for women this year for Spring and Summer, I totally cringed.

What's the deal with all this lacey, frilly, flowery crap? All this pink pastel-y nonsense! It seems as though it's the frikken little girls section, but bigger! I'm just not down with Little House on the Prairie styles, yano?

*wrinkles up nose*

It's not all bad, but a lot of it is. I know I don't have to wear it either, but i'm gonna have a hard time not laughing at the girls walking around this summer lookin like they just finished picking daisies in a field.

To each thier own, I know, I know...
Just needed to rant.
Feel free to toss in your $0.02....

I guess I should just be happy it's not like the "sh-pants" episode a couple summers ago. :D

I just bought my first top of the warm weather about 1/2 an hour ago... it's the new snug halter top with the cutouts like <> at each side...

bring on warm weather!!!!

as for all those eaton centre styles, just laugh if off Jo since it just means that those who don't sucumb to it will look even better in comparison!

:p

it is all about the peasant look.... which I don't hate at all but don't LOVE either :)

but I have no complaints about the colours.
I like pastels for the summer.
they go well with black and beige so its easy to mix them in :)

15th is shop time for this girl...

cheeka deserves a new wardrobe I think ;)

I've decided that I no longer like what's considered "fashionable".
Not that I dislike it either, I'm just not buying stuff cause it's "what's in".
I'm gonna buy stuff, cause I like it. Not cause designers tell me I like it.

Ooh, that's a nice one, Svet bought that this weekend.
I've got my eye on the dress with the cap sleeves in blue.

I hear you Ming, but when you've got to dig through a bunch of other crap to find what you like, it's a bit of a challenge.
It's hard enough to find clothes anyhow.

Recently, I've really started to hate shopping. I hate everything in the stores. It all looks boring to me. This could obviously be my problem, but a friend feels the same way.

*shrug* Whutuhyagonnado? Gotta wear clothes, you know?

I like fashion.... but I don't conform to whatevers on the runway :)
Its totally about personal style...

my friends whose style I like the best never dress that way.
but have an eclectic collection - that mixes in with everything.

the peasant/gypsy look

fringe

stripes

pastels

black and white

dirty dirty denim

....so far the lowdown on spring gets the big thumbs down from me.....

but have no fear. i'll be on the lookout for something new, different and cheap!!!

thanks,

it was my birthday prezzie to me,

It's a super cute top but it feels a bit cheeply made i.e. loose threads and wonky stitching on the strap, but it's funky and I have to accept that Snug isn't the quality it used to be... but the cut of this top is so flattering that I was won over.

- Jen, can't wait for patio season to wear her new top and get a <> tan on the side

i concur, it's like a giant barfy ruffle-bomb with extra lace exploded.
as i had feared, it's a full-fledged return to the worst of the 80s clothing. and i won't do it. i won't!

but this all raises a bigger question:
since we all feel like we can't shop anymore, we don't like what's considered 'in fashion' anymore-- is this IT for us? have we reached the pinnacle of our fashion development? will our sense of style be forever crystallized like this-- so in a few years, five, ten years-- we're still sticking to the fashion sense we adhere to now? we'll be like the equivalent of those women we see on the subway who are wearing tapered Lee jeans and keds and slouch socks. they saw 90s fashion and went 'eeew.'

god, i hope not.

Shameless plug for my roommate's store. He owns M1 Apparel up on Yonge & Egg area (across from the big Sport Check).

He's honestly got some really fresh gear in for spring, both men's and ladies. I just dropped $600 there 2 weeks ago. I'd seriously check it out.

His name's Dave Saddler and he'll hook you up!

um... so by 'hook us up' you mean he'll sell us some clothes, at normal prices, like they do in clothing stores? SWEET.

I worked at 'the Source'

The big one up the street. Diva Kate also works there too and I must say she picked out some definite keepers for me.

And the Source? Is that the same Source that's from Calgary. They have the big source logo with the canadian flag in it?
