Apparently Sarah Thomson is asking her supporters via a pole on her website to help her decide if she should back out of the mayors race and run for council....
her language isn't the issue, she just doesn't have the confidence or skill set. vastly more qualified than ford, she just won't get enough support in this city, especially if she goes the 'social justice' issue, which most voters don't get or understand.
she would be the opposite end of building consenus from ford in that she'll try to please everyone, which won't work either. tory is way more honed on how to use his influence and persuasion to get things moving
no chance of turning it around imo (it was never really a starter).

What's the count? 3 votes for continue, 2 for step down? Or did I over-estimate the response volume?

Can you tell us who are the 4 users who are voting for Ford, so we can shame them on here for their stupidity?
Ford got his ass handed to him on a platter at today's Board of Trade debate.

BBJ is a very likely suspect.

i don't think anyone's ever accused olivia chow of not having enough confidence.
we obviously disagree on her ability to conduct herself at city council. she was a hugely successful and influential city councillor for many years (winning several "best city councillor" awards from media and public voting), and she definitely knows how to build consensus and work with folks that have different views.
from what i've seen, i also believe that john tory is smart, influential and persuasive, so we don't disagree there. my problem with tory, and rob ford, is that their political leanings are too conservative.
i agree with the toronto star article that i posted above, that toronto faces a pivotal time, where the divide between the "haves" and the "have nots" is bigger than ever, and there is a fast-shrinking middle class. i would prefer to live in a city that is kinder to the less fortunate, where the rich pay more to keep the city beautiful and there are ample social programs to help the less privileged such as affordable housing/daycare/dental care, childhood nutrition and the like. that is what i want from my municipal politicians.
