I'm actually doing my final seminar for a semiotics course about soap operas, and I'm trying to provide an example of who watches the show, how long they've been watching, favourite storylines, etc, etc.

If you want to help me, you can just mention that sort of stuff for me. I'd really appreciate it.

i used to watch when i was in university.

my sister got me hooked.

victor newman and jack abbott were cool. brad carlton was a creampuff prettyboy. cricket had her moments - i hear she now works with the guy that raped her before - and michael damian was just fucking weird.

is catherine chancellor dead yet?

when victor's daughter almost slept with cole, who turned out to be her half-brother, omg, like, i almost died.

ps. victor newman has a contract that guarantees that every scene he is in will either end with (i) the camera on victor or (ii) victor having the last word.

I watch Y&R well when I can cuz I am a 9-5er
I have been watching soaps for around 20 years - my family watches them thats why - hmmm fav storylines are romances(steamy scenes) and fighting scenes - the only ones I dont like are when someone is in the hospital or in jail - i do tend to be impatient when it comes to storyline so my watching has gone down :) hope this helps

- Jack and Victor have an on going feud over Jabot
- Victor has married the majority of the female cast
- Jill and Catherine used to hate each other but recently found out they are mother and daugther
- Cricket almost got raped by Michael Baldwin and now works for him and they almost got married
- Mack and billy took off when they got married and found out they were brother and sister *ick*
- Sharon and Nick keep cheating on each other

I thought Michael sexually harrassed Cricket but didn't rape her...she was raped by Derek (I think was his name).

Is Nina still on the show? I remember thinking her character was the most pathetic and annoying.

I want to know who the killer is on Days!

Been watching since I don't know. My mom use to put it on while she did house work ... So almost since my exisitance started. but I'll say 17 years ago ...'ish. Is when i really took an interest in it.

my Favorite characters:

Eric Braden As Victor. So much power, money and minipulation. For years I've been waiting for someone to take him down..But it hasn't happened yet. Probably never will.

Jill and Kathrine. Been together for ever! Bitch bitch bitch... So much hate. Very funny at other times. And just finding out now Jills, kathrines daughter.... after all these years, priceless. Great story line.

JT. Comes on the show all badass, and has molded himself intothe biggest sweetheart ever. I love this kid I hope he's on the show a long long time!

Michael Baldwin. Who the hell rapes a girl. Does time. Has her fall in love with him and want to be married. Then loose the girl to another man Especially her ex Danny of over like 10 years ago.wtf?
Michael's the man. Big time lawyer. Cunning and Sexy.

Ryan. He was a fav of mine. I hate trisha for murdering his character. Total good guy. Ginuwine and caring. RIP ryan.

Newest character I *LOVE*

KEVIN FISHER...Michael Baldwins psychopath little brother. I predict some hardcore evil stories to come from the Y&R team for this kid. So far he's stocked a girl on the internet, met up with her she was 15 so had "concented" sex withher still making him a statutory rapist. Ended up giving her Climida...Tried to burn downher best friend in an attemtped arrson, / attempted murder at Ginas place. NOW he's all getting weird over lauren fenmore and Britneys been electrocuted by an un-known individual... DUN DUN DUN..

This new kid has me loving Y&R more then ever now.*swoon*

I watch this show twice a day...

and no shed isn't.. ninas long gone.. very old news. Danny's back though to "woe" chricket.

ryan and victorias wedding.. trisha was jealous... crashed the weeding... went to shoot Vicky. But ryan wouldn't have that and stepped infront of the bullet...

I cried.

Vickys leaving the show btw..
oh and for all you people watching.. the wonderful *gag* Grace is coming back.

I started watching when I was in about grade 4. My grandmother used to watch my sis and I after school and she'd watch it every day so we eventually joined it. That was back in the day when they had the old Jill (really looked like a bitch) and the old Jack (not a suave as the new one).

Then, in University, I added Days of our Lives to the mix, which was funny because Ashley was on that show at the time. People used to tell me she used to be a man but that's just hogwash.. and the Billie (Krista Allen) was smokin'. But I dropped that one when I graduated.

I don't really watch faithfully anymore but I'll open a thread like this to get updates and tune in when I'm home early or home sick.

I can't believe how young the cast/plotlines are these days. It's understandeable considering the shift in the age of the audience but Raul.... that guy used to be so square and recently I see he's been bangin' Brittany.... and all the porn/stripping stuff...

What's the deal there.. I saw that her and Paul were on some beach and about get heavy and maybe even back together....

then I see him and Lauren (who is just a total knockout) getting cute over dinner.

Oh...my...god...my Mom has been watching this since I can remember. So when I would get home no matter what cartoons I was watching when 4:30 rolled around...cartoons offf and Y&R on.


Nicki use to be a stripper. That`s how Victor and her met.

The original Sharon is now really married to Ian Ziering. I think her name is Nicke Schieler-Ziering now.

When Nick was put in jail for being wrongfully accused of murdering(damn I forget who it was) Then Victor comes out of nowhere to save his son right before he was to the shit kicked out of him in prison.

God there are too many!

I haved watched Y & R since I was about...oh........11.

I am now 27, my gramms is the one who got me hooked. I pretty much never miss an episode (THANKS SATELLITE)

it is my one shady obsession. :D

Ryan, crazy ass Trisha and Victoria was a good one.
Isabella and Christine when crazy Izzy tried to kill her.

um, shit man....there is too much to recall. That's an overwhelming amount of plots there!
