I dont think the failed hit on Leotaro was a set up. An unfortunate timing error on the goomars father coming for a visit is all. Right after the failure it was said that nobody had seen Phil for 4 days. So it's quite plausible that he wasn't going to be at his friday night finger bang session anyways. So the girls has dinner with her father.

I will be surprised if Paulie turns on Tony now after all the other opportunities he has had and not taken.

This is a pretty sensible explanation.

going with the paulie theory, here is something else to think about !

paulie was the one at the end, asking to call for take out, who thinks he actually phoned for food ? one wonders who was on the other end of the phone ?

ive been waiting for paulie to turn, for a long time, he never seemed happy on how anthony got picked to be the boss, one wonders if phil has set it up to have paulie run new jersey ?

i see this happening, but.......... i also see the final scene, showing tony talking to the feds, and giving up many secrets, to protect his family !

well the problem with this is that the Goomar likes to sleep with someone who looks identical to her dad. UNLIKELY or very disturbing.

Right at the beginning of the episode, Sil kills someone for "playing both sides of the fence", and he said something about them trying to get him to go over to the other side as well.

The more I think about it this scene solidifies Paulie's betrayal more than the botched hit. It feels very out of place for me, and it's the perfect setup for the audience to make sense of the switch over.

I'd say Freudian or the Elektra complex ;)

beat me to it. some say it's a load of crock, but having lived in Korea I'd say it's disturbing how many women here marry "father figures" or, from experience now, have SERIOUS daddy issues (hearing "i'll be a good girl daddy" out of nowhere can do a number on your 'focus', lemme tell you...)

it is therefore perfectly plausible that a woman that fucks a married guy has serious father-related issues, as in looking for a part-time father figure "with benefits."

it was paulie's voice being heard in the backrgound, ordering meatballs while tony was walking upstairs to his room

it wasn't. but he did ask the guy to order a bag of plates because "they ain't got nothing here..."

I'm gonna chime in with the Paulie sentiments as well. I sensed that something was awry with him after he took off in his car after the meet with Baccala, Tony and Sil. just something in his face... I don't think he (if he does cross Tony) will do it maliciously, I believe it will be done to save his own skin. if he senses that New York is gonna whack the whole Soprano crew, then why not make an offering and switch? he's wanted to do it since Johnny Sack fed him all that bullshit a few seasons ago.

either way, next week had better be as explosive as this week. I wouldn't be surprised if Tony flips... remember as he was walking out of AJ's room he glanced at the computer and saw something about terrorism? maybe some foreshadowing for him talking to that fed who keeps popping up from time to time. I'd be disappointed but not surprised.

can't wait for next Sunday!!

While the crew agree on takeout, It's Carlo Gervasi who's seen with the cell phone at the end of the episode who suggests the takeout initially and looks like he's ordering...he has his cell phone out (It's his cousin who is garroted at the beginning) With regards to Corky being the go-between..."Corky" Caporelle was born in the old country and hence speaks the Italian with a bit of the Napolitan twang, before he came over to the States at a young age. So he's used as they think it's easier for him to relate and speak to them. (remember a lot of the crew's italian is crap or non existant…remember when they go to Italy, and Paulie can't communicate) When Tony agreed to do the hit on Rusty Millio, Corky acted as the go-between in return for heroin (which Chris ended up relapsing on) Corky's background was explained then. Other reasons could include, it being relatively cheap to pay Corky to do the job, all it takes is some heroin, and finally, he's easy to bump off, should they get worried. He's not a money earner, or a "regular joe" he's just a junkie.

White shoes equal death? Moments before Johnny Sack passed, Ginny finished cleaning up his favorite pair of white slippers. Doc Santoro was sporting a pair when he got the Moe Greene Special. Burt Gervasi was wearing a pair of white shoes when Sil took him out, and Sil was buffing his own white shoes when Tony gave his orders to reach out to the "cousins" in Naples. In earlier seasons, Jimmy Altieri is taken out by Moltisanti when they suspect he is wearing a wire and is wearing white shoes. On the other hand, Paulie is still vertical, and "Remember When" showed us just how many pairs he has.

I think this week's episode wrapped up the federal agent storyline. Tony gave them info, and in return the agent warned him of his impending doom.. I don't see much more happening there in the last episode.

hahah you're amazing, good work. Who remembers (2nd or 3rd season I think)AJ trying to decipher that Frost poem, and Meadow tells him that White can also symbolizes death

AJ "I thought black was death"

Meadow "So does white", "the long sleep" or something to that effect.

FUCK THE WRITING ON THIS SHOW IS RETARDED

true true. I had a convo last night with one of my room mates and a mutual friend about that scene and came to the conclusion that Chase may want people to think he'll flip.

I've got a few different scenarios regarding the last episode in my head and the one I shared in this thread is just one of them. as a regular viewer of the show I don't ever think that Tony would talk to the FBI unless he had no other choice. it's not in his character.

Well, apparently not even the stars of the show know how it's going to end as they filmed three different possible endings. Nice stuff. :)

I watched last weeks episode again noticed the thing that Fleaflo mentioned about white shoes. It definitely represents death, because both Sil and the guy at the beginning who got killed were wearing white shoes and they clearly showed that. And then they even showed Paulie wearing white shoes near the end. Could that mean he'll get killed in this next episode?

"There's no scraps in my scrap book" - Phil Leotardo
haha

There's way too much to wrap up in this episode.

pauly wont turn on tony
the show had us thinking pauly was constantly thinking of turning, but in one episode he admits how he just played all that up with johnny sack because he was getting inside information for tony.

pauly is worried about one guy, himself.....

remember when he was talking with johnny sac and telling him all of tonys business...and he told johnny he gladly leave tony since he isnt moving up....

and phil wanted to pop the top three guys....tony,sil and bobby, who moved past pauly...and phil said he d do business with whos left....

pauly loves tony but would turn on him in a second if it was in his best interests...

the thing about david chase is he leaves so many open possibilities its never certain what way things are going to go...
