although i would easily say the pixies are probably in my top 10 bands, it's tough to come with a number one...i definitely lean toward new order as my favourite band of all time...
i've seen the pixies live 3 times & would definitely say they were one of the best live bands ever...

but really, the pixies are very cool, i even like frank black's solo albums. i'm not sure about 'best band evah' tho. (then again, i can't think of anyone i'd nominate for best band ever. the beatles maybe?) i've got a husker du shirt signed by bob mould. does anyone care?

As far as music no.
Possibly as far as influencing other bands. But I think even the Ramones win in that category.

^^^ Kim and Kelly Deal did a stint in a band they formed called The Amps. They were good. Now, they're reforming the Breeders and releasing a new album this year.
I loved the Pixies. I don't listen to much of that kinda music these days, but they were up there. I've seen Frank Black live many times. If any of you were at the Opera House show in '96, I was the dude that drunkenly got up on stage, hugged Black Francis, then accidentally knocked over the full amp riser before diving into the crowd.
Definitely, one of the rock and roll highlights of my life.

Lets not forget that the Breeders came out of the Pixies, plus a helluva solo career for Mr. Black including the Punk Rock anthem "Les Angeles". As for the Pixies, riding the Wave of Mutilation all the way. Incidentally, anyone here like Husker Du???
