    i liked it.

    Ben Kingsley = best.fagin.ever.

"and i'm Jack Dawkins... aka the artful dodger..."

seriously, that kid was a fookin' PIMP.....

    so now it's down between
    the 1968 musical OLIVER!
and this as the best adaptation
    of the novel.

    kudos!

Just watched this last night and it knocked my socks off
(let's be honest - "dickens" and "musical" should never have been uttered in the same sentence)

    It is simply beautiful.
The sets and voices and dialogue and costumes and the whole city of london was unbelievable.
The story was so much more compelling and satisfying than the musical.

It was a transportive delight of a film.

I love the Oliver musical, I have it on vhs.
Probably will see the new one in the near future. It better be as good as you say it is.
