As a former Laurier girl, I can confirm this stereotype.

Also, geez, that's not a lot of skin, what are you a prude? :p

Also, also, of course Laurier would get the entire school involved with such gusto and some cheesy WLU cheer. My God, that school never changes.

I'm hardly a prude. I quite enjoyed it. ;)

That said, there's little doubt they're half naked to help push this up in the hits department.

It's called Guernsey Market. It's the space between the library and Thistle complex. The glass windows to the top right and at the back are for the library, the glass windows that you can't really see to the left are in front of the large Thistle auditorium/lecture halls.

Brock's different now. Back when I originally went to Mac (2003), it wasn't even an option for me cause of how shit it was, but it's definitely come a long way in terms of social life and academics. I mean, just look at the guy studying near the bottom right in the harlem shake video.

That's definitely new. I arrived in 1995 and wanted to leave immediately. Plaid and grunge were still in - two to three years after grunge died. The women there were so cold due to the whole Paul Bernardo thing. There seemed to be an assumption that every guy was a psychopath killer and rapist. I lived right by the pond where that whack job dumped his victims encased in concrete in Thorold.

I actually ended up throwing a bunch of raves and a club night that became pretty popular, along with a radio show there focusing on electronic music because time had forgotten that place. People thought the Tragically Hip were 'cool'. I'm shuddering thinking about it now.

My time there was spent trying to figure out ways to transfer out - which may explain one of the reasons I never finished. What a horrible school - and I was in one of the better faculties (Phys-ed, now Kin).

We did one at my work last week on BT. I had never even heard of the "harlem shake" until that morning we decided to do this. *shrug*

Four arrested in Egypt for 'Harlem Shake' - FRANCE 24

Four arrested in Egypt for 'Harlem Shake'
AFP - Egyptian police said Saturday they have arrested four students who filmed themselves publicly dancing in their underwear, as more people around the world emulate a viral dance craze called the "Harlem Shake."

The four pharmaceutical students shocked residents of a middle class Cairo neighbourhood when they removed most of their clothes and videotaped themselves performing the pelvis-thrusting dance, a police official said.

The hostile audience tried to assault the students, who are accused of committing "a scandalous act," the official added.

Egypt has strict public indecency laws.

Some Egyptians have posted videos of themselves on Youtube doing the "Harlem Shake" in front of the pyramids. One of them, dressed in white underwear and a bow tie, dances while riding a camel.

The dance craze was sparked by a group of Australian teenagers who uploaded the 31-second clip "The Harlem Shake v1 (TSCS original)" onto YouTube earlier this month. It has since been viewed almost 16 million times.

It's an excuse to do something silly in what is likely the worst month of the year. You know it, Black History Month. White people's response during this period of awareness and learning is to perform mass mocking of black culture.

I don't know how you got 'racist mockery of black people' out of a bunch of videos of people doing a silly dance. Silly dance crazes are nothing new and Baauer isn't even black..

Go on Youtube with a desktop browser. Type in "do the harlem shake" without quotes. Enjoy.

Up to 15 miners were fired from their high-paying jobs in an Australian gold mine after a “Harlem Shake” performance underground was deemed a safety hazard, a newspaper reported on Monday.

A YouTube video shows eight miners wearing safety gear while performing the convulsive dance in the Agnew Gold Mine last week. The West Australian newspaper quoted a sacked worker who wouldn’t give his name as saying up to 15 people were fired, including some who watched the performance but did not participate.

Mine owner Barminco considered the stunt a safety issue and a breach of its “core values of safety, integrity and excellence,” according to a dismissal letter cited by the paper.

The letter noted that Barminco would not allow the dancing workers “to be subcontracted by Barminco at any site domestically and globally.”

It’s not clear from the video what safety issues are raised. The dancing miners wear helmets, but five are shirtless. The sacked worker told the newspaper that shirts had been removed to ensure the Barminco name did not appear in the video.

Barminco, which has operations in Africa as well as its native Australia, did not immediately respond to a request for comment Monday.

Australia is experiencing a mining boom, with thousands of workers attracted by high salaries to remote Outback mines. The West Australian said the miners who lost their jobs had six-figure salaries.

The unnamed worker who spoke to the newspaper said the miners were only “having a bit of fun.” A Facebook page set up seeking their reinstatement carried comments supporting the workers as well as people saying safety regulations should be obeyed.

Paddy Gorman, spokesman for the Construction, Forestry, Mining, and Energy Union, said none of the miners at Agnew Gold Mine in resource-rich Western Australia state is a member of the mining union.

Up to 4,000 videos of “Harlem Shake” variations are uploaded on the Internet daily. The song “Harlem Shake,” recorded by Brooklyn disc jockey and producer Baauer, is currently No.2 on the Australian singles chart.

Seriously? People dancing in a youtube video, having fun, gets your riled up enough to wait for somebody to die from it?

It's amazing how angry people are getting over 30 second videos of other people having a good time. The cultural appropriation argument warrants some reason for getting upset, but seriously, otherwise, it's a fucking internet meme, get over it. Nobody is forcing you to watch the videos, why make yourself angrier while coincidentally supporting the video producers with your views? Complaining about things that are entirely within your power seems like an easy way to never be satisfied.

Really? Who said I was watching them? Read the article and that was it. Besides you can`t get way from it. It`s on everywhere all the time.

I can see doing it on your own time with friends and family. There is having fun then there`s putting your life and others at risk. These dumb dumbs are doing the dance thousands of meters underground not following safety procedures in a profession that is dangerous enough as it is.
