Roger Gracie made quick work of Kondo.

His style is very similar to Rickson's. I hope his MMA career does as good as his BJJ career.

I think Nick Diaz would beat Aoki. He's more well rounded and flourishes in the danger zone.

Diaz by TKO or decision.

LOL I saw that yesterday and couldn't believe it.

The World Victory Road: Sengoku 2 fights were just "okay" overall.

Satoru Kitaoka vs. Ian Schaffa - Kitaoka locked a tight guillotine early and never let go. Schaffa never had a chance to display his superior striking.

Eiji Mitsuoka vs. Kwang Hee Lee - Lee came out kicking, Mitsuoka took him down and sunk in the RNC. Mitsuoka's now probably in line to face Takanori Gomi in an upcoming WVR match.

Yuki Sasaki vs. Jorge Santiago - probably the best fight of the night, Sasaki looked to have Santiago in trouble, ending both the 1st and 2nd with Jorge in some kind of submission only to get caught in an armbar himself in the 3rd - a slick one, too I might add.

Yoshihiro Nakao vs. Jim York - A slow slug-a-thon that saw "Kiss" staggering York in the second to log the only KO of the night.

Mike Pyle vs. Dan Hornbuckle - This match was pretty decent too. Hornbuckle seemed to be faring well in the striking department, scoring often, though Pyle rocked Hornbuckle when he did land a blow.

Kevin Randleman vs. Ryo Kawamura - I'm not sure how, but Randleman won this one by UD against a more-than-game Kawamura. Randleman spent most of the fight looking a bit gassed and holding the belly-to-back clinch in an attempt to launch Kawamura in a suplex. But Kawamura displayed Sak-like tenacity using the trademarked kimura defense vs. the suplex and outstruck Randleman in the third. At one point, the ref even called a time-out to talk to Randleman about inactivity. How he won...only the judges know.

Josh Barnett vs. Jeff Monson - Josh came in with the plan to strike against the BJJ Black Belt and executed it well. Monson ate some hard knees, but he fought on. Barnett used his considerable reach advantage to keep Monson at bay, but was taken down in the second. Monson seemed to be able to smother Barnett at will, but the catch wrestler bucked and bridged out of side control to get back to his feet. He ended the fight with an attempted toe hold. It was enough to earn him the nod.

Yuki Kondo vs. Roger Gracie - This one was disappointing as Kondo was outsized in this catch-weight fight. Gracie caught him in the RNC and the ref was forced to intervene as Kondo would not tap. Not a good night to be named "Yuki".

I'm looking forward to seeing Kawamura more - he's like a bigger Machida, methinks.

I'm hoping for an Aoki/Diaz fight. After Aoki beat JZ, I think he can take Diaz. The sad thing is I think Aoki can only beat JZ/Diaz by decision, whereas I think either JZ or Diaz could KO Aoki... But I still feel Aoki will win.

DEATH BY RAINBOW TIGHTS!

I want to see Alvarez vs. JZ or Diaz as well - both would be barnburners!

according to sherdog, Lil Nog has signed with Affliction. that's too bad, I was hoping he was going to sign with the UFC. there would so many possible matchups for Lil Nog in the LHW division. just imagine the fights you could make: Lil Nog versus Rampage, Wanderlei, Liddell, Jardine, Forrest, Soko II and Shogun II.

but if you look on the brightside, we could see Lil Nog versus Babalu. that could one sick display of BJJ. According to the guys at BTT, Lil Nog actually has better submission skills than his bro.

peace

I hope Sherk busts BJs stupid head in. I like BJs skill, don't like him.
I hope Lyoto busts Titos giant head in. I'd be surprised if Tito shows any skills, and I don't like him.
Wandy v Jardine...not sure. Wandy has the power, but Jardine tends to fight a smart fight recently. Too close, I don't want to see either guy lose.

i feel the exact same way about the fight. i like both fighters and I don't want to see either of the lose. Jardine is an amazing fighter how's only real blemish on his record is the loss to houston alexander. I feel that loss came because Alexander was an unknown fighter at the time and nobody knew had absolutely zero ground game. That being said, I see Jardine taking this one, possibly by KO the latter part of the fight. Also, I think its pretty clear that Silva is past his prime. The Axe Murderer has been in one too many wars and now it's starting to catch up with him.

peace

pretty much agree with all your points here - I used to be a Tito fan, but he just doesnt have his heart in it anymore. after this fight win, or loose, he is gone, so really, whats his incentive?

I think he's got plenty of incentive. I'm sure there's nothing he'd love more than to leave the UFC after a big win, and give Dana the finger. Plus if he leaves on a high note he makes himself that much more attractive to audiences of other MMA promoters.

At the end of the day, I think he just wants to embarass Dana as much as possible though.

I think at the end of the day Tito thinks he is still the champ and the world owes him everything. A good showing this weekend will at least back up his thinking depsite his 3+ years of lackluster fights.

He is a fighter way past his prime in a sport that has advanced way past him, and he's nailing a porno star way way way way way past her prime. Both should be remembered how they were 5 years ago, not the embarrasing performances they put on now.

Rashad Evans Removed From UFC 85: Bedlam In London
MMANEWS.COM

After countless opponent changes, Rashad Evans has been removed from UFC 85. The announcement was made earlier today by the UFC.

Evans was first scheduled to face Chuck Liddell but after a hamstring injury forced him out, James Irvin stepped up to face the undefeated light heavyweight. Irvin was injured earlier in the week and Luis Cane switched opponents to fight Evans.

With Evans being removed from the card, Cane now will fight Jason Lambert who he was first paired up with to fight on the prelims of the card.
Also, Dana White is going on the record to say that BJ Penn would "anihillate" Kimbo Slice. Personally, I'm not a fan of Kimbo as an MMA fighter, but I think it's a little bold to say that a lightweight could take on a heavyweight with lead fists.

wow 85

liddel vs shogun - shogun hurt
then liddel vs evans - liddel hurt
then irvin vs evans - irvin hurt
then cane vs evans and evans pulled.

that's nutty

plus the adding of bisbing vs leban and leban getting jail time for probation violation

what else can go wrong for 85?

I agree with Rude1. Sherk's proven he's got the gas, roids or no roids. Penn needs to finish in the first or second. He'll need to use his standup (better than Sherk's) and sprawl a lot (it's probably about a 50/50 takedown to sprawl ratio between those two). If Sherk does end up on top, he's got a solid positional game and can just LnP for 5 rounds if he has to with the occasional hammerfist/elbow combo to look busy enough not to get stood back up. Sherk can't leave anything hanging for the first 2 rounds. If Sherk fights a normal (read: boring, no risks taken) Sherk fight, he could win this.

I'd actually love to see BJ take Sherk down and establish a top game. I don't know how Sherk would handle that. So maybe, Joey, just maybe - Penn could finish by ground strikes. But if it goes into the third...we're looking at the tide swining in Sherk's favour.

Well, when it was BJ "Michelin Man" Penn (remember, he's fought at LW, WW, MW vs. Rodrigo and Renzo Gracie, and even LHW vs. Machida), he had enough padding to take the lead fists ;)

That said, he did lose to Machida at 205, but only by decision. He beat the two Gracies at 185 by decision.

we already saw that... when GSP caved his face in with sherk screaming like a girl.

im on the boat the penn has learnt from his past mistakes..

i don't think he is going to gas at all.
he obviously knows sherks LnP game and is going to be ready for a 5 round war...

watch, when bj gets on top as long as he has enough time it'll end
