Alright, I admit, maybe the commandments need a looking over. I mean, even the Christian commandments got a second draft. (I insist that commandment #1 is still in line with the existential attitude though. Think if it not as a negitive but a positive, like what you'd say just before you gave in and jumped out of a plane to sky dive.)

sartre's philosophy sucks, his real forte was the plays he wrote such as 'no exit'. his best quote regarding existentialism was 'man is condemned to be free, because once thrown into this world he is responsible for all that he does'.

it's not about denying the self, it's about the existence of personal subjective choice, responsibility for those choices and the concept of free will...although despair does play a part of it. i used to like to think i was a optimistic existentialist as oxymoronic as that may seem.

existentialism is often confused with nihilism.

phenomenology, eschatology, semper ubi sub ubi.
