Terror in NS and the Cons can't call a spare a spade

Since when did an act of terror require "cultural motivation"??

The cognitive dissonance must be crazy for them to use the definition of terror to say it isn't terror:

"Neither Brennan nor MacKay would characterize the alleged plot as terrorism. Brennan said the suspects "had some beliefs and were willing to carry out violent acts against citizens.""

Or is it because the 'beliefs' weren't commonplace so you had no reference for them, and you know, the whole "not a muslim" thing??

It could just be some kid that was pissed at his school, employer, parents etc. ie not terrorism. Unclear if there was a political motivation or not from the article or who the intended targets were (religious, hate crime or otherwise).

We need to stop labelling everything as terrorism because soon we'll be calling political and environmental protestors terrorists because it fits this new definition, which seems to be any violent act regardless of the purpose.

I guess I think we call too FEW things terrorism!

I've always considered Columbine to be a highly local form of terrorism - a group of people seeking to make a point through the violent extermination of innocents.

The point may have been a small one, maybe not even political on the level of states - but its surely political on a more local level, even if its just at the level of a school or employer.

Anyway it was correspondence with the American, the fact Justin Bourque was "of a type" with the people in that list - thinking maybe this could turn out to be a kind of homegrown anti-government "patriot" type thing up here (more classically defined as terrorism rather than things like columbine, for which I recognize my opinion may very well be a minority one). Its certainly true that these ideas are spreading to Canadian territory and have for a long time - if you ever got the "CANADIAN INCOME TAX IS ILLEGAL" type stuff (Marc Gauvreau is a perfect example of a Canadian importing the Stormfront type thinking), you will have seen this percolating.

In recent years I think the youtube effect has really amplified the popularity of what used to be a very obscure ideology - perhaps its the malaise of our times sharpening just as our social technology was jumping by leaps and bounds.

I was taught by a prof whose parents were on a "list" for organizing unions and such - basically when the commies finally attacked they would all be rounded up and taken to concentration camps in the hinterland. Thousands of people on these lists - mostly for being left-wing. Sites were chosen.

If its happening now its just an iterative step on where we already were.

Whats wrong with that documentary? This is a pretty well documented period in Canadian history, they're just collecting what people have been writing and talking about and making it accessible to the viewing public.

By what measure is this specific documentary lacking credibility?

Secret internment plan included Toronto landmark

Casa Loma was gonna be the concentration camp for commies!

they've already sicked CRA on charities that have spoke out against the Cons.

They are such odious people sometimes, the Cons. Tax fraud hurts taxpayers like 20 times more than welfare fraud, lets turn the CRA on the white collar dudes with 'creative' solutions to their tax burden - but to use it like that? Disturbing and pathetic at the same time...
