I just installed Win98 on a laptop & I now get an error when trying to use the floppy drive.

Everytime I try to access the drive it tells me that the disk needs to be formatted? I've tried 10 different disks, all with the same error. All disks have previously been formatted & are full with info.

Any ideas?

Defective floppy drive

To be 100% positive hit F8 while it's booting, go into Command Prompt Only and check to see if it will read disks from DOS.

In case you don't know how, it's A:\ <ENTER> then DIR <ENTER>
If you see something it's cool, otherwise its pooched
