tech geek help - burning question

i have 80 minute CDRs and i'm using adaptec 4. when i put a blank cd in it recognizes it as 79:59 minutes available...but it seems to have a default of only 74 minutes available for music, whether there is a cd in or not and when i go to burn it it tells me to insert a cd with more free space.

is there any way to tell it to allow me to burn the full 80 minutes?

Get all the patches...

Adaptec EZCD 4 was created before the 80 minute CD were created.

You need to get all the patches for 4...

Adaptec is a PoS for software.

Grab DiscJuggler, Nero or CDRWin...

CDRwin is the best IMO... small and works.

If you want... I've put EZ CD 5, and CDRWin4 in the "Temp Program" folder of the FTP site...

you can download them... they both have the reg codes.

Ross man, get nero. I was using easy CD and it's a total peice of shit that pisses me off and has plenty of bugs in it.

I have version 3.5 and it works just fine with 80 minute cd;s.....

i figured it out...

well, i downloaded your cdrwin4...couldn't get it to work - error messages when i tried to burn.

i started to download easy cd 5 but it was taking forever so i was floating around the adaptec/roxio page trying to figure out a)if i did download it would it solve my prob and b) what my problem actually was.

according to the roxio site ECD4 supports 80minute cds....so i'm thinking to myself, what about the 2 second gap at the start of the track...that's automatic on the first track, always there...so i go and shave 5 seconds off the track and bam! it works....
