wtf nigga, native people live all over the world; whever they are native to! but I'll assume you're talking about native americans who are NOT indians! I'm taking back the word indian on behalf of all those from the indian subcontinent, you racist!
(btw the teacher claims that the student said it first to him. if the student can use a word to the teacher, why can the teacher not use the same word to the student? what...because of race? now isn't that the definition of the word 'racist'? nigga please.
Im not interested in having this discussion, but "taking back the word" is some bulllllll shittttt! How, in 2006, can we as humans have words that are only for some to say and others to avoid at all costs? Im not agreeing with this teacher, quite the contrary, but saying that it's ok for some and not ok for others only deepens the closet racism so prevalent in this country.

Ummm..exactly? I am part native (Mohawk and Micmac).. and the word was used as a negative (still is.. whatever background..They soooo mix them up).. Really did not like being referred to as a "Squaw". either.... Oh, and I know I'll get responses on this..
The word " indian" should not be a negative..
And JoshB, I agree on many points, but you really can't fight this..and for that teacher to use 'nigga' is just plain stupid..
