if antropov and carter are the physical elite amongst human beings, then why are they made of glass?

as much as I love Carter, and it would pain me to see him leave, I say trade his broken ass.

I'm tired of this guy...Trade him.

He's a dope star player... but does not posses the physicality to endure the riggers of b-ball.

I had the same problem with sprinting. I was wicked fast, yet spent time out for ankle injury 30% of the time; or groin from over training. When I was on I won, no questions asked, but I couldn’t be relied (esp. for relay) on as I could go down mid race. So I stopped competing.

Sorry buddy, yer body can't handle the stress, take a trade so we can get a good body (or two) who can take the heat.

no one wants vince carter for this reason.

Im sure we could get SOMEthing for him, but due to the salary cap problems, and the fact that hes so high paid, we'd not get what we should (in an ideal market)

Im just annoyed. I thought this could be a better year. Whether hes out for 1 game or for 10, he is a fraud in my eyes.

For all the good he's done, he's also done stink. Hoisting three pointers left right and centre, averaging 22.0 points, and never driving to the basket like he should be, and when he does, he complains about fouls. And also, when he DOEs drive, he gets knocked out.

Vince, stay in your penthouse, make your multi millions, but dont pretend youre "it". Cuz you arent.

How is he the leading vote getter for the all-star game? Were people hoping he'd do the dunk contest again?

It baffles me that he was once again the leading vote-getter for the all-star game. What the hell has he done to deserve that?

My only guess is that all the Canadians vote for him by default since he's the "big" player on the only Canadian NBA team.

Because he is good looking and popular. People dont care about on court performance as much as the overall package.

Yeah I understand that but there are people in the NBA that bring that a lot more than Carter does. Also surprising because the Raptors don't get the airtime that other teams and their stars get. I'm actually shocked Lebron isn't the #1 vote getter given all the circumstances.

i think carter's gotten into the habit of being over-cautious.

the littlest bump scares him into thinking its another season ending injury. this trepidacious style of play is what's responsible for his injuries - its like being told to handle something fragile with care then dropping it because your nerves get to you.

i bet he's overexaggerating his current injury. he should be back in shortly...

he's just gonna have to learn to play with the bruises like alvin...

Vince looks badass on the court, has style and swagger, along with the entire Canadian vote – I think that's why he's the #1 all-star vote getter (not to mention a few slams that everyone still remembers).

It's funny... I think the balance that probably makes him a more well rounded person works against him as a pro athlete. He’s competitive, but doesn’t seem to absolutely hate losing like some players - he routinely chums it up with his opponents right up until the tip, and right after the final whistle, whether they win or get blown out. He’s driven, but not to obscene lengths like most other elite-level super stars – remember Jordan adding a new aspect to his game every year? He’s unselfish and not arrogant, but seemingly incapable of commanding respect and being a true team leader on or off the court – I’ve heard Jalen may emerge as the leader.

What bugs me the most though is that he’s not a consistent hustle player. You hear about Jason Kidd or KG being the hardest workers on their teams. Vince routinely gets caught looking at rebounds while forgetting to box-out, doesn’t play intense defense (steals & blocks are a function of his talent). His footwork on offence is nothing like Kobe Bryant’s (who’s also younger). He’s always getting hung up in the air on dribble/drives. He takes acrobatic hot-dog shots when they could be fundamental ones. I would have thought all that time on the side-lines the last 2 years would have afforded him time to watch game tape of himself and other great 2/3’s, but the “intangibles” just haven’t developed. He takes over games because he’s got killer talent, and a hell of a shot… but you can’t win championships without more dedication IMO. And at 26 with a wife (and probably kids) in the not so distant future, I’m getting the impression that he’s not interested in putting in the work to become an all-world player (I really hope I’m wrong, cuz we can’t really trade him with his contract). I think he’d make a great 2nd superstar on our team – assuming the glass body can hold up (not really his fault).

It’s too bad for GG… we HAD to re-sign him because he was on top of the world - but it appears that the flash is greater than the substance with him. His greatest claim to fame right now is that he WAS one of the most exciting players in the league.
