Surgery as entertainment

I can't even imagine why you'd want to watch some one under go surgery on television.....like no clue.

I LOVE tlc and discovery, but I have to sort of question the entertainment/learning value of watching surgery/trauma units on television...I'd be hard pressed to believe that ANYONE is learning anything about the process, and aside from that all that remains is an outlet for peoples morbid gore fasination.

do you like watching this type of show?...I personally cannot stand hospitals, let alone watching someone undergo some type of body opening surgery, especially on my leasure time.

what do people like about this?....blah.

I love those shows. You probably only think of them as gory things with blood. But if you're used to that kind of stuff, you don't look at it that way.

I love those shows.

Once I watched "The Operation" (is that show on anymore?) and they performed the exact same surgery that was done on me.

I thought it was the coolest shit I ever saw.

yah, but the trauma unit one for instance....that's people who're seriously injured....that's horrible, I don't want to think about, let alone watch horribly injured people struggle for life.

the general surgery ones are a little less repulsive I guess, but still....I don't see any interest in watching some body mageling surgery being performed...

I hate surgery....I have an unhealthy phobia of hospitals though...

I wonder how many of you are into these shows.

My best friend had surgery today :(

I sat at the hospital for over 2h waiting for him to come out of the recovery room.. they brought him up like a half hour before visiting ended and he was still sleeping :(

The one thing that completely fucking freaks me out is when they show liposuction. Disgusting and looks really freaking vicious.

From the Ministry of it's like they're scrubbing out a toilet.

yah, it's horrible.....they just jam that nozzel under your skin and suck it's totally brutal to want to view this....

I have, on ocasion gotten the "deer in the headlights" effect when it comes on, so I've seen a little bit of it.

Sick little bastard that I am, I tend to find brain surgery hysterically funny sometimes. Probably because I had a friend who went through it and told it in one of the funniest ways I have ever heard, weird observations and all.

From the Ministry of [foreign accent] I smell.......burnt toast![/foreign accent]

I'd be curious to know what a brain surgery patient found humours about the experience!

I think I'd be less than ammused after having my skull cracked open like a wallnut and having had the gooey substance of my personality altered by a realative stranger....fuck...I'm weirding myself out now.

man oh man do I EVER hate hospitals...they scare me a lot.

I was flipping through last night and this doctor was performing a facelift on some person. It was creepy!!! He slid his knife underneath the skin and it all just came undone, like the whole person's face could just be peeled off if he wanted to.

nasty stuff.

I saw a reverse vasectomy once. That was some funny shit! They were squeezing his testicles and it was popping out of his sack where they slit it open!

I just like to sit around with a bottle of ether, a clamp-on work light, an electric carving knife and do elective and usually uneccessary surgery on myself.

BBB.

OOOO! And a tarp! VERY IMPORTANT.
