Dancer in the Dark.

Even though it's so depressing, I can watch this movie over and over and over and it makes me feel good. Although, I'm odd.

Otherwise, Sister Act Two -- You GO Lauryn Hill!

And the obvious nod to Showgirls.

'the cook, the thief, his wife, and her lover' is really good if you're looking for a movie on the f*cked up side of the spectrum

just rented Possible Worlds last night.

started off with a murder where the victim's brain was stolen - then led into the poh-lice trying to solve the murder while the victim's life was replayed.

the victim was living multiple lives in different parallel worlds.

the ultimate 'what if' type situation.

very interesting and thought provoking.

i liked it.

if you've watched Memento then i suggest watching Following. Same director/producer/writer/(iono) - very good flick about a guy who chooses to follow people around. he gets into a situation that leads into trouble. very well played out.

following was slow and put me to sleep.

i must congratulate blockbuster for displaying the dvd case and such a wonderful description of the film. i took it back the next day and got a credit for another rental after trying to watch it twice and being bored out of my mind. memento was fantastic and fun to watch while following was just brutal...

i have to ask what you enjoyed about following? i gave it a chance and it just didn't work for me.

i thought the script portrayed a really tight storyline.
I'm trying not to ruin the film for those who haven;t seen it but it's impossible.....:
i didn't realize that the two storylines being depicted represented the story of the same individual -- tying that together for me was a big part of that movie for me -- but beyond that what really made this movie so enjoyable for me was how seamlessly the whole story fit together -- i like when a script finds a way to make everything end so cleanly.

This is probably a bit late, but oh well.

If you have seen Momento, check out the director's first film "Following". You can get it on DVD at Blockbuster.

Following is a bit of a sleeper at the beginning, it takes a while to get into it. the slow beginning brings you into the way that the main character is feeling. not much going on in his life, not much going on in hte movie. once he starts getting involved with his followees then things pick up.

as in Memento the director really does a good job in placing you in the head of the main character. slightly confusing you with splitting the time frame, giving you something to watch for. and the end ties everything together nicely.
