Lurch, you missed out! The place fucking exploded at 4, his set started out kinda slow but from that point on it was fantastic. There was a track played around that time, with lyrics about a beautiful day, about 4 lines of words repeating, damn I can't remember the words at all! I'd just like to know what that track is if anybody can help. There was absolutely no sign of KOT - Finally dying, the crowd was rocking to that one, which was good to see (haha it will never die)

Living in Toronto now is great, I don't have to worry about falling asleep at the wheel. Time for bed...

Man that rocked!

Last time I caught him was back in the winter at Element and he played a lot more tribal and housey than he did tonight. I figured he was going to play his trademark 'dark drums' sound all night, but he moved into some proper prog house and even some stuff that was verging on trance!

I was thorougly surprised since every time I've caught Lawler play, he's done the tribal house thing and not verged out too much more. He changed my perceptions of his sound tonight.

Best set I've heard at System in a long time. He more than made up for his absence last time.

Tune of the night had to be Vaio's (sp?) 'Rapture'. It's an anthem in the making.

Cheers,
Jay K.

Caught about the first 2 hours of Lawler's set. The man was about to go OFF! Very smooth..and the crowd very intense. The Danny Tenaglia remix of KOT-Finally had the crowd screaming and hollering. What a wicked track! Other tunes I noticed:
Celeda-The Underground(?? remix)
Love U Some More-some new remix

Respect to Lawler for grabbing the mic himself to apologize to the crowd for not showing at his gig in July. The airlines FUCKED UP!
wink.gif

Anyway, shouts out to all the crew-you know who you are. Tons of Tribe/GU peeps inside the place.

Mackers, sweet set buddy! God bless Oliver Lieb!

Coleridge, thanks again for the CDs. They made the long drive home that much sweeter/shorter!

Next week ===> Chris Fortier & CASS! Arguably the best 1-2 punch to grace the Breathe massive. See you then...

Peace.

OMG I hate myself for leaving at 4ish. The man was ripping it up. UBU-Pixels what a fuckin remix(whos remix is that-brilliant). And what the *@&$ was coming out of the speakers when Flash was on. I could swear i heard three tracks(Flash, something of Tenaglia Athens and something else). Wow what a night.
To the Macers who ripped it up in the back room,"Shine on you crazy diamond". You definatley have something going on (DD4).
Vibe was great, peeps jumping and screaming, hasnt been like that in a while a Breathe. Keep it up and see you there next week.
Peace
Mike

Lawler is truly a master of his tools. some of the best and tightest mixing I have heard in a long time! Great tunes, going from tribal to progressive all night.

Tune's of the night:

Everybody be Somebody - Ruffneck (Remix)?!? awesome!

Phase 1 - Critical Phase (Futureshock Mix) A great mix when Lawler dropped this gem.

Another great night at Breathe!

Word @ the Steve's.

Congrats to our very own Che for dropping a wikked set it the back room -- great warm up for Mr. Lawlers hijynx
smile.gif
Apologies to Che for being such a screaming dingus, but we all got a chuckle out of it, no?

Steve Lawler dropped bombs -- his set started out rather slow and I was having trouble feeling it, but after about an hour or so MY GOD!!! Non-stop rukkis, track after track of quality drum-laden house, a bit of prog. thrown in for good measure
biggrin.gif
An excellent nite was thoroughly enjoyed -- special props to the hottie bartender in the back room for hooking me up consistently with superfast service and discount drinks
smile.gif
(hope your boss doesn't read this...) -- you made my night that much better.

Looking forward to His next visit.....

Had a great time last night...Che did a great job in the back room, and DJ Shift quenched my trance thirst in the VIP room...and as always, Lawler rokked!

And of course, I saw MANY Tribe peeps there...Lurch, Jay(Rev), Malglo(Horny slut!), Cri, Bumbaclat, Vinder, Cheeka, etc...And Everyone else!!!

what a great night, I'm tired...

The one night one of my top three all time fav djs is playing at a place where I'm at, and my body is TOO FUCKING TIRED TO MOVE. RRRGS!!!

That's what happens when you've got a master like STEVE MACK behind the decks to warm things up. Steve...congratz on an amazing set... everyone LOVED it. Though i think the guy that wanted to buy the pink floyd vs. oliver lieb was kinda pissed at you...
anyways, by the time i was done dancing to this set my body was wrecked. Fucking sobriety! Curses!

Walking out of Steve's set into Lawlers was lame. Soooo much tamer than what I was used to. And...WHERE WAS THE FUCKING TRIBAL!????

And WHAT THE FUCK WAS WITH HIM DROPPING FINALLY??? What a fuckslut...he knows i hate that song.

It was weak to begin with...I suppose he was progressing into something better but my body coudln't handle sticking it through the 5 hours. It started getting *sooo* good though around 3:30....oooh when he played around with Roaches...*drool*....but my body was in off mode, so I abandoned Mr. Lawler and returned home. Ahh well.

Still an amazing night...

What's pissing me off is where they sampled those vocals from!!! That's a REALLY OLD house tune that I know I have, but I can't remember who it's by and what it is.

Can anyone help? I keep thinking people are playing this really old record and I guess they're not. It sounds rather similar to the original though.

Is is just me or are a lot of 'prog' DJs dusting off some of their mid-90s records and breathing new life into them all over again?

Cheers,
Jay

WOW! I had the best time of my life on Friday. You guys in the back room were awesome. I was loving every minute of it. Hopefully, we could do it again soon
smile.gif

Lurch - How many times did you trip out?
wink.gif

djcheezwhiz - thanks for the support bro.
Nesta - God Bless Oliver Lieb indeed. I'm glad most of the maple crew was there. Too bad Rick wasn't.
Chemi - I KNOW you were having a good time. Did you tell Lawler about the DD4 idea?
wink.gif

SlipperyPete - Thanks for the enthusiastic support. I wouldn't have been the same without you. I did get a chuckle out of it.
MC Bias - Sorry I didn't play "First Light". It was in my bag. I hope "Hide U" made up for it.
KiX - I didn't mean for you to loose all your energy in the back. But I'm REALLY happy you were there and having a good time.

Lawler was wicked as always. Nice of him to come on the mic and say what he said. I'm also pissed I couldn't stay till the end cause I was SO exhausted.

Worst night ever...
Go to meet up with Tina but cannot find her then decide to go home before i miss the last train ... after making it to Union i see that it is gone. So decide to go back to System to try my luck again and finally just pay cover and go in. After walking around for an hour or so.. i give up and leave the club. Then i try and decide wheather to go home or sleep on Toronto's safe streets. Well did not take me that long to decide so i ended up paying $50 to get home by cab.
I hate living in suburbia sometimes...

TINA WHERE WERE YOU!!???

Worst weekend ever and not getting better....
