State of Emergency

anyone played it yet?

i liked it! it was really mindless fun and just challenging enough to keep me interested, instead of whipping the controller across the room. Chaos mode is the most fun i've had in a LONG time.

the character rendering was SWEET, as in GTA3 and the message behind the game was a good one, although i worry about this popularization of the anarchist movement...

i'd say GTA3 still wins all, but SOE was some good fun too!

i rented this the other day and was really dissapointed. I love GTA3, however I found this one to be sub par for the hype. There are just little things that bother me about it, like not being able to have a chache of weapons, and being penalized for killing pedestrians.

I was expecting much, much more from this game, and I probably won't even rent it again. Bring on the next Grand Theft Auto instalment!

I would *LOVE* to get an old arcade game cabinet and make a MAME system some day. I love old games.

Can we have pinball too?

why?

From this month's issue of Tribe:

GAMES

State of Emergency (PS2) From Rockstar entertainment, the creators behind Grand Theft Auto 3, comes a games that indulges every anarchist’s fantasy. State of Emergency places the player in the middle of a city riot, allowing you to either perform tasks to cause a revolution, or just plain go around and blow shit up to your heart’s content. Set in the near future, a corporation has taken the reigns from a bankrupt government and enforced a police state on its citizens. Oppressed for an unspecified amount of time, the pot begins to boil over, and you start causing your trouble. While it is somewhat lacking in a plot specific direction (much like Grand Theft Auto 3), that can either be interpreted as either its strength or its weakness. I, myself, found this to be a refreshing alternative to some of the more goal and task focused games like Metal Gear Solid 2 or something like Final Fantasy. It gives the game a bit more of a free to roam, arcade-like feel, which is exactly what I want and need from time to time. Highly recommended, but not for the younger kids. They are carding to see if you’re over 18 when you buy this game, FYI.

I like the freedom, the arcade feel and the ability to do what you please. I'm simple that way. :)
