As with all movie threads, SPOILERS are allowed only after opening night, which is December 14, 2017.

Please no spoilerish talk, including rumours/predictions, until after December 14. After that, we expect folks will post reviews/discussion with SPOILERS.

Based on the Twitter reactions, it appears there are significant unexpected elements, so best to go with as little knowledge on what to expect as possible. :)

Being someone who can't resist the trailers i will say this: they have been a lot less spoilery than Force Awakens was. The trailers for that gave away pretty much the whole story except Rey=Jedi.

Not seeing it until Christmas Day with the kids so i think I am going to join you in avoiding spoilers and reviews based on how cool those reactions are.

Anyone else going this week? We got a pair of tickets for Thurs, Dec. 14, at Scotiabank IMAX, in 3D, and then 14 tickets for Sun, Dec. 17 at 4:10pm, which is when they are showing it in 2D format on the Scotiabank IMAX screen.

If you're like me, and think the IMAX 2D format is the best way to watch a movie, you should get tickets for the 4:10pm showing at Scotiabank IMAX. This is the first time I have noticed the threatre geting two IMAX versions of a film, one in 3D and one for those who prefer 2D.

bigtime Star Wars fan Jenny Nicholson attends the premiere in Los Angeles...

No spoilers or anything but fun to watch a young D-lister cavorting around the lobby area and take in the activities that we never see the A-list celebrities participating in at these events...

Bonus: PORGGGGGGGG

At this very moment, I have 4 different screenings booked from Thursday, Friday, Saturday and the following Cheap Tuesday. 2 are in IMAX and 2 are in UltraAVX auditoriums with Dolby Atmos surround sound. My 5th "wild card" is hopefully the special free advance screening FTWK later on this week before Thursday (14th). Two years in a row, I lucked out by waiting in the "rush line" like old STAR WARS movie lineups and everybody was rewarded for putting in their efforts of lining up. LOL

The reward for putting in your hours like traditional SW fans that lined up were both the Canadian premiere of "The Force Awakens" and "Rogue One". Nothing special just bragging rights to tell everyone you saw "The Last Jedi" before the 14th. :D

^ Last night I attended the free Canadian premiere and it's been 3 years in a row we all lucked out with the rush line. This morning I got a chance to look at some reviews and watch some fan reactions on youtube. I agree with a lot of what was said.

There was a lot to process and I can't wait for my second screening tonight which will be in IMAX. :D

I'm still processing this movie, and am swamped today, so will post my thoughts later.

Despite some plot oddities, which every single Star Wars movie has had, this movie was outstanding. It was not at all the movie that anyone was expecting, which is mostly a good thing, but at the same time I couldn't help but miss the more formulaic elements.

This is definitely a game changer for the Star Wars universe.

I am looking forward to seeing it again in IMAX (this time without the awful 3D glasses) on Sunday.

I liked it but the bar is still Empire for me.

Didn't like the Snoke story line at all. He went out way too easily. And Finn, I don't get his role. I would've liked it better if he was the reason they were able to track the rebel fleet. The "end of the string". Also was surprised Leia wasn't killed off. Well thought she was until she wasn't. Will be interesting to see how they handle her next movie.

Going for my third viewing today and finally this time at Scotiabank's laser IMAX theatre. Anyone who's seen it here, were you able to notice the footage filmed using the IMAX cameras? In "The Force Awakens" the IMAX scene (1.43: 1 aspect ratio) was just the Millenium Falcon escape from Jakku scene and it was only 5 minutes long.

Billion dollar effort. Probably sucks watching Hamill play the joke. Shit went tits up when they blew up Vulcan with the Star Trek reboot. That's not even right.

Most of the reviews I've read online are pretty positive but the only people I know who have seen it said it was garbage. One said it was the worst of the franchise.

i just read a massive spoiler on a stupid reddit funny meme. smeh, i am not really invested in this franchise anymore. the force awakens was pretty freaking bad in my opinion, it was pretty much the 1st 3 of the series kind of mashed together with different characters but whole plot lines copied. i still cant see it being worse than the abortions that were technically 1,2,and 3. those stunk out loud

Like wouldn't you have to work pretty hard to out shit Lucas after the prequels??
that still makes no sense to me
nothing is worse than those prequels other than the wtf were they thinking indiana jones movie.
seriously..survives a bomb blast by hiding in a fridge...and fucking aliens??? lets not even get into shia leshit....yikes

I liked it, but it does continue the echo/greatest hits moments, this time with the Empire Strikes Back - the similarities to the events (ie. speeder vs. walker battle, jedi training, rebels on the run. the luxurious cloud city/casino world) are there, but with a different take and a slightly different order). Adam Driver I think was probably the strongest performance out of everyone, while Domhall Gleeson gets a little too evil twirling mustache at times. Overall though, the movie left a strong impression and I really liked the character arcs each of them are taking.

Holy casualties. Lots of characters that we said goodbye to, some quite unexpected.

Lots to think about it, but I think Rian Johnson has done a fantastic job with exploring new directions.

I'm going for my fifth viewing tomorrow on cheap Tuesday to see it at Scotiabank's laser IMAX again in 2D. Anyway, it was confirmed IMAX cameras were used to film some scenes, yet it went unnoticed when I saw it on IMAX twice. There is something very suspicious because nobody online has been able to state exactly which scenes were filmed in IMAX? Hmm...

The movie was OK. Like many have said, very Disney, but not the worst. Way too long.

I wanted Lando or Fett to show up in the casino otherwise it was a useless scene.

They has perfect opportunity to showcase the Jedi skills of Leia after she survived the destruction of her ship and merciless vacuum of space.

The mutiny subplot was silly, the mutineer would have been shot on sight.

Great action scenes.

Best to worst:

1) Empire
2) Rogue (so underrated)
3) Hope
4) ROTJ
5) TLJ
6) TFA
7) Sith
8) Clones
9) Phantom

Ya I have to think the people who say this one is worse than the Lucas prequels must just have won their local curmudgeon competition.

There's a certain game theory dynamic going pushing people to be the most critical or something lol.

Sit those fuckers down through the phantom menace, or just watch these
