Soulseek Appreciation Thread

When I initially downloaded Soulseek,I had some guy tell me I was banned because I tried to get two tracks (sets), then it crashed my computer, and it just generally rubbed me the wrong way.

After posting an anti-Soulseek thread, I was told (primarily by Deep) to give it another shot, which I did.

4 months later, I love it.

Tonight I got a set that I never, ever thought I would get.

Dr. No-Live @ Pleasure Force 1994-1995

Unbelievable!
I have never even got as much as a hit for Dr. No anywhere!
It is unreal the amount of dance music that is available on this program.
Better than Napster 100 X over.

What are some musical treasures you have unburied on this program?

slsk rocks! its all about who you have on your buddy list for treasures like that one. :) Lots of classic Toronto sets/videos to be found.

- an old breeder set from moscow that is my favourite set ever

- three sets from my love, rowan blades

- liam kennedy - atomic trance

they made me smile like a loon and squeal with joy. that's right.

it's pretty good, but nothing beats AudioGalaxy when it was in its prime. It would have the most obscure new releases available within days of their release...

I'd love to hear this Dr. No set!

Audiogalaxy was the best thing to happen to the internet since broadband connections.

But we can't live in the past :(

Agreed, being in several different rooms was the best because people would get a new track and just share it out to you....and you wouldn't have to do a G/D thing!

Ahh....Audiogalaxy....formerly known as Scour.net......you will be missed.

I'm sure I will figure it out.

Make sure you get a RAM manager (I use Analog X)

Soulseek tends to be somewhat of a resource hog, I am running 512MB and I still need to clear it from time to time.

love the fact you can get taped radio shows and sets...always remember soulseek for giving me several DEF JUX radio interviews and freestyle sessions(courtesy of mr BOBBITO!)...also love finding old DnB LP's and comps....shit like techsteppin from emotif and all the metalheadz platinum breakz stuff...not incredibly hard to find shit but consider the fact that it's a search then right click away...it's bloody brilliant that we can have this kind of access to great msuic on an everyday basis

LONG LIVE SOULSEEK!

BTW this thread has motivated me to possibly donate a bit of green their way in the coming year:)
