Well Christmas is 6 day away and for the first year in AGES...I'm actually excited!!!

It will be my first "in-laws" extraviganza.

Christmas Eve I'll be at my boyfriends mom's place (for the first time) in Collingwood...maybe I'll get a little skiing in.

Christmas day we'll be heading 45 mins north east to Southampton,ON for my family's annual christmas feast and night of drunken debauchery.

Then it's back to T.O. on the 26th.

What everybody else up to?

Going to my hometown Kelowna, BC for christmas to spend time with family. Thank god there's no clubs in that town.

My family is having a Festivus dinner. For real. It's on Dec. 23rd and all of my cousins and aunts and uncles will be there. We just haven't figured out who will be participating in the "Feats of Strength".

Cheers ... Ian :)

My family has a winter picnic with our friends. We sit on the floor and eat way too much and I get drunk with my all my friends that i grew up with. We also tie presents on strings and have to follow the string to get it. Its an odd tradition but it wouldn't be xmas with out it.

The sun was setting in the west
The birds were singing on every tree
All nature seemed inclined to rest
But still there was no rest for me

Farewell Nova Scotia
The sea-bound coast
Let your mountains dark and dreary be
For when I am far away
On your briny ocean tossed
Will you ever heave a sigh
Or a wish for me

I grieve to leave my native land
I grieve to leave my comrades all
And my parents whom I held so dear
And the bonny, bonny lassie
That I do adore

The drums they do beat
And the wars do alarm
The Captain calls, I must obey
So farewell, farewell
To my Nova Scotia home
For it's early in the morning
That I'm far, far away

I had three brothers and they are at rest
Their arms are folded on their chests
But a poor, simple sailor just like me
Must be tossed and driven
On the deep, blue sea

My family is Hungarian/German, so we open presents and celebrate Christmas on the 24th. We are having a big dinner with all the relatives on my Hungarian side. My auntie is a wicked cook...I can't wait!!

As far as New Years is concerned I am extremely tempted to stay in. I have never done that before. It would be absolutely fantastic to wake up New Years day without going out partying the night before. I did offer myself to work guest list that night, but nobody has taken me up on it yet. I'm still available people...if I have a good offer.;)

Regardless of what is happening.

All the best to you and your family. That is the least that it can be said IMO.

christmas eve - nice bottle of wine and a tourtierre (my family tradition) and then some egg nog (his family tradition), maybe some roasty chestnuts with the hubby. christmas eve is just us and the tikky cats and we like it that way. watching cheesy christmas movies is a must (i like rudolph, grinch and white christmas)

christmas day - morning OPEN PRESENTS, then off to my parents for brunch, then off to his parents in Aurora for dinner, then home.

boxing day - my parents have a big dinner. "leftover dinner" where all their friends and assorted people come over and bring their leftovers so you get to eat someone elses cause they are all different. mostly everyone gets drunk and eats too much.

thank goodness his parents aren't up north this year. that was too much driving!

I'm very sorry Killalady. Christmas is one of the hardest times of the year for dealing with such things. No time is good for dealing with loosing someone but Christmas seems to be the hardest imo. I hope that you get through this as best you can.

I don't know, everything is happening way too fast... I will do my best to give her one last awesome Christmas... although I am pretty sure it will totally be fucked up and the worse one I have ever had.

Anyhow... carry on, this thread is a happy thread... weeeeeee...

Ya, I have had more than my share of party days, so it really shouldn't be a big deal to stay in. I wish I had someone cute to spend New Years with just watching movies at home. That would be so nice.

Aurora's not far at all. Only about an hour from our place.

Last year we did brunch at my parents then drove up to Honey Harbour for 3 so we'd still have daylight to take the scoot out to the cottage (about 1/2 hour over water/ice).

then left around noonish the next day to head back to Toronto.
