I figured I would see if there were any Tribe peeps in HK...may meet up with to wander this awesome city with.

Or anyone in Beiging? I will be there on Thursday.

Any suggestions on places to see or visit in either of those places - I've been to HK before, but always trying to find something I didnt see the last time, but I am really looking forward to my visit to China - I usually just enjoy wandering, but I only have 5 days in Beiging so I want to make the most of it.

Cheap Ego - I know I should be in Bali right now but due to circumstances I wasnt able to make there - next time for sure; so instead I am heading to Macau and ShangHai and then to Beiging

hey bud!
hows it going? one of my favourite things in HK was that bird sanctuary in the middle of the city. such a different vibe than the frenetic downtown pace all around you.

Take the 6 bus (hopefully this is still the right bus) from Pacific Place to the south island and go to Repulse bay and stanely market. Its very pretty over there and the shopping and food in stanely is very good, especially if u want to buy knock -offs. The bird sancuary in Mid levels is really cool too. I think there is also a zoo around there aswell. I also love the jade market on the Kowloon side. Be sure to go the Peek at night; it is absolutely specatular.

In beiJing make sure you go the Forbidden city, get out to the great wall if you can, and be sure to have Peking duck.

have fun! I wish i could visit Hk again soon.

if you go to lan kwai (and you must) get late nite eats at midnight express. best falafel EVER. agave is a good bar, a friend of mine co-owns it. i can't recommend a lot of bars anymore since they change over so frequently and i haven't been back for a few years.

also check out wanchai for more bars, tsim sha tsui for shopping (esp. granville road).
if you want a good day trip go out to lantau to see the big buddha.

food: kublai's for mongolian grill (there are three locations-- wanchai, causeway bay, tsim sha tsui), jo jo mess club for indian (wanchai), va bene for italian (lan kwai)-- ah fuck it, there are so many amazing placeds to eat there you can hardly go wrong.

EDIT: this is mutslaster not booty bits. oooooooooooops

Thanks Liz for the insights - its been 5 years since I was last here and I needed the refresher course

Lan Kwai is on my list; and I will check out agave to give you an update.

There are so many things to do in HK and I always feel like I missed something. Oh well another day of travelling for me

Shopping is one main thing on this trip - with the CDN strong items are too good to be true at some of the prices, and there are Xmas sales all over the place.

Yes food is awesome one of my favorite things about HK all the different foods - more ideas; this is better then using a tour guide

OMG !! This is the most amzing stirfry in the world. I used to go there with my girlfriends all the time. Oh how i miss it. Another good spot for eats is the Basement of Seibu in Pacifc Place (hopefully it is still there). They really have the best noodles and all sorts of other good stuff.

Oh and go to Lantua. It is really specatular. Well worth the trip in my opinion.

Going out to eat tonite - heading to the New Terrirtories to day to see the Nature Reserves.

I love Lantau - last time I was here that is where I lived and took the ferry into work every day - what a great way to go into work.

When I get back I will swap more stories about HK -
