I really wish it was under better circumstances.

My Grandfather passed away yesterday evening. :( He lived a very long, full life(94 years old). He was the toughest and funniest man i've ever known. He died in a state that we can all only hope for....with all faculties of mind and humour.

I fly out @ 8am tomorrow morning and get back the following Saturday. It'll be really good to see much of my family that's moved abroad.

Long may your big jib draw, Skipper.

Shit sorry to hear, sounds like you were close to him Dan, but at least you get to see your family out there & that's always a blessing.

Sorry to hear Dan, but you're right, if he was able to pass on as sharp mentally as he ever was, he left in a better state than many people do.

All the best to you and your family :)

you're right, that is pretty great.

i know after my grandfather died, the time we spent telling funny stories after the funeral was priceless. we were all in stiches and tears at the same time. i found it very, very warm and comforting.

sounds like you'll be able to do the same. :)

Really sorry to hear that. It always amazes me how people can actually live that long given the hard work and poverty they had to live through (if he was like 99% of the people in depression era NFLD).. my condolences.

You'll have to give him a proper Newfie wake and celebrate his life! (I swear I'm still hung over from the party we had for my Grandfather.. that was 6 yrs ago!)

My condolences Dan.

Don’t cry because it came to an end. Smile because it happened.

This quote felt appropriate given your first post about your grandfather.

i'm sorry to hear that dan. but it sounds like he lived a long and full life, and that you have a lot of fond memories, and perhaps learned a thing or two from him as you're pretty quick with that lip of yours ;)

celebrate his life rather then mourn his passing.

Deepest sympathies, Dan. I hope that you find some good things on the east coast to help you out through the week. I'll talk to you when you get back.
