It's official! The 2005 smart, a vehicle brand of Mercedes-Benz, will be coming to Canada this fall. MB is announcing this right now at a press release at the Autoshow at the MTCC.

I'm so excited! This car is so HUGE in Europe and will be an affordable, awesome little city car in Toronto. It'll probably run about $20,000 and there will be three types initially: the CDI which is a diesel and the 'fortwo' coupe and cabrio.

There's going to be three or four smarts at the AutoShow - along with the SLR McLaren and the Maybach it'll be a pretty stunning line-up for Mercedes-Benz...

These things were all over Italy a few years ago. They look really cool, very futuristic. The car is as long as regular cars are wide! That means you can park with your rear tires to the curve and your front end won't be sticking out any further than the car in front or behind you.

Two Smart cars can fit in one parking space - no problemo.

... except that like the beatle they are excellently engineered European automobiles that kick American ass and anyone who's driving one is in fact driving a very nice (albeit small) car.

I saw the coupe in Europe... looked hot, but I'd be hard pressed to buy one.

It all depends of driveability and pricepoint

As for the regular one... not a big fan, though parking is so ez

please do not compare the Beatle to a Jetta VR6.
There are so many engineering problems with the Beatle it's not even funny.
