Well... it's not what i expected..

Shy threw down sum bombs but was lacking in the consistancy of his tracks. he got better towards the end though.

Skiba was actually dissapoiting tonite. yes he progressed as the nite went on but he was nuttin like the skiba i'm used to.

Despite the above i had a good nite and saw alot of friends. was it worth takin the nite off work and losing $80?? Naaaw i'd have to say noo.

Biggups to Hustlin beats for a fun nite even though it didnt meet times of yester year.

i agree. wasn't impressed with shy fx, and thought skibadee was over-powering the music. it seemed like he played his big tracks at the beginning just to hype up the crowd - although it worked. i didn't even stay for his whole set. ended up going down to the lounge to listen to easy rush.

It was all about MARCUS!
Marcus absolutely smashed it. In the first 10 minutes of his set he must have already mixed in like 15 different tunes. Nice to hear some smooth tunes near the end there. Wicked to hear that Jill Scott white, that Brian McKnight white and that Intalex tune.

Ruckus mos def got us hyped for Shy-fx and skibba. I don't think Shy-fx even compared to our T dot boys. Serious.

Nice tunes in the 19+ too. Nice atmosphere and it wasn't even close to as rammed as the main area was.

Respect to Hustlin Beats!

easy,

another great night was had.

when i got there, everfresh was spinning a nice, more laidback (at times) set in the sideroom but it was much too crowded in there so my friend and i ventured into the main room and it was a good thing we did cos ruckus and diligence were tearing it up! warhead remix into police and helicopter totally caught me off guard...but it was a pleasant surprise.

lush was up next...another great set from him. technically he was on point (as always) and his track selection was quite nice (anyone who plays die's driver is a keeper in my books!).

shy fx was up next and he started off well (shake it into what sounded like a remix of terrorist???) but at that point the main room was so packed so i ventured on back to the sideroom just in time to hear velocity drop one of my favourite tunes (armand van helden's ain't armand...woo hoo!)

all in all, a great night was had. big up paul, tones (for the hookups once again) and velocity (for the tune and the cd).

MCs gave up battling the music the energy went up 10000%.

I think the night was another good argument for less MCs, can't they shut up when there's a sweet vocal going on ?

All the junglists in the house say "YEAH !!!".

Another valuable Body Roc Wednesday night passed by. System Sound Bar was moderately packed as expected.

Arrived approximately before 11:30 as Diligence & Ruckus were wrapping up their set. Didn't catch much of it but hearing the "Whitney Dub" was a definite delight. Everfresh was smoothing things up in the congested mini (side) 19+ VIP bar. And right before the feature headliners is none other than Lush. 'Nuff said, y'all know the score on this excellent local.

As for Shy FX alongside the MC Skibadee, what else could one anticipate? Shy FX with his unusual cuts & mixes and Skibadee with his enduring ramblings. Heard some new lyrics from the Skiba, as well as a slew of new tracks (a couple of unknown new Dilly tracks, Rollerball, & Shake It just to name a few) dropped by Shy. Teased the crowd with his dub Nuttah mix in the beginning and ended his set a pleasant d&b remix of the Iconz' "Get Crunked Up."

Highlight of the night goes out to Toronto's own DJ Marcus tearing the club apart. Pulling off more than a dozen smooth cuts & mixes all within 15 minutes. Had the crowd on their toes without a doubt. Wish I could've stayed longer to hear the rest of his set.

Big up Hustlin' Beats, Empire and everyone involved for throwing these weekly event. Keep holdin' it down for the rest of the summer!

Illfinga's was the first to drop it(close to 2 months ago i think) and continuously play it. 1st I heard it was HIS dub and then i heard it was a dub that was sent to him by small time producers...

All i know is I'm jumping all over that track when it's pressed cuz its a Massive Choon!!

Marcus is always a given.

'nuff said. 'nuff respect.

But Everfresh did hold the fort well in the VIP lounge. I was there and I was chilling at the beginning of the evening. Sweet.

But you have to admit that the sound levels and eq on the main floor leave a bit to be desired (I explained that in a separate post). Good nite out, though.

Respect everywhere.

Is this the Whitney tune with the "Your love is my love" vocals? I know someone from Brampton who made a version of it, heard a couple of Toronto locals drop it, dj Spinz has a copy on dub. Unless someone else officially released a different version?

Someone fill me in on this, I'm curious now too haha.

ya the shy fx set at renegades was wicked. not sure what happened this time. oh well, spent most of the nite listening to velocity in the VIP room. nice to hear good d&b plus some ukg.

from what i heard of the set, marcus again proved himself to be one of the best in the world. absolutely no one left when shy fx was done; they all stayed for the true headliner.

I used to like him. I don't fancy him much now. But I was curious to see him. Was it that bad?
Btw, I thnk Velocity needs more praise.
