was that ever an awesome party dOOd! coming down from sarnia was definately worth the train trip! shout outs to my friends i went with- KiX, olde, and Societes_Devil. you guys are great! and all my old and newer party friends i saw, the new ones i met, and a big shout out goes to Brad from Serenity. thank you
the music kicked ass! especially nokturnal vs squirt! OH MY FUCKIN GOD! and Dose the Alien! WHOLY SHIT! the music all night kicked some serious ASS! thats all i gotta say bout that! it was ALLLLLLLLLLLL good! although i must admit i missed Spice's set... we left at around 6:15 or something?!

I would like to thank the Serenity Crew for allowing me to be a part of this kickass event. Beautiful setup all around - the visuals, the sound system, the decor, the pyro show, top notch music and mad dancers - what else can you ask for? Oh, yeah, being thrown in a 4 turntable battle against one of the best trance DJs in TO - Jason Marshall! I gotta admit, I acted like it ain't no thing but deep down I knew it's gonna be a mind-blowing experience - and it was!!! I got my ass kicked in the tight mixing department but it was all intensly fun. Well, maybe except the blinding spotlights and excessive heat...
The sets I managed to catch:
- Jelo & Decepticon - banging, no surprises!
- Dose the Alien - Hard-ass trance with a predominantly German flavour - very Epic!
-DJ X vs. D-Monic - once again - no surprises - masters of breaks were outdoing one another to provide the tightest, most intense breaks set I heard in a looooong while...:

ps. Those bags of clothing items given away were funtastic, a bit on the overkill side - three pairs of phat pants, a million t-shirts a few hats and hoodies in a gorgeous silver bag? That's some lucky campers that won't need to go shopping any time soon!

got there at 11 and headed straight to the bar. i saw dlerium there- she doesn't hate me! i think.......
got a little buzz going on during capital j and nokturnal vs. squirt's sets. i don't usually like breaks, but i sort of dug squirt. then- woo hoo- jelo & decepticon. finally i could go to the dancefloor! saw kife there who was bustin' out the glostick styles......
then i did the standing around/wandering around thing while i patiently waited for dose the alien. yummy......trance.......
but of course by the time dose went on i was tired. perfect. i really tried to dance for a bit.....then i had to sit and be content with bopping my head. his set kicked ass! i've never seen him before, but holy shit, was i impressed! definately bring this guy back!!

I dont like Sky Lounge at all...its way too bright..I felt like I was in a bar not at a party...but I can see the good points of it..just overall I don't like it.
The party was very good but the venue kinda ruined it for me...I dunno i can't explain it. Specially since Im usually the last one to let something silly like that ruin my night..ah well. I guess it happens to the best of us.

The people, the music, it was a gathering and a night that I wont soon forget.
The Serenity crew went all out once again making the venue look like something out of a fairytale. Emmense amounts of decorations and decor transformed the Skylounge into a truly epic place to spend the night. The visuals and lighting were more then I expected for a party that size, which was truly an added bonus.
Nokturnal and Squirt, sick newskool breaks tracks in combination with amazing turntable fanatics made this set into a breaks set that you couldn’t sit around for, you just had to dance. No questions asked.
Jelo and Decepticon layed down the hard pounding house for their (just under) 2 hour set. They kept up the beats all night and added a few breaks tracks to round out the set. (my question is why?)
Dose the Alien, the headliner from NY punished the dancefloor with some twisted hard trance. Not my favorite, but hey, everyone seemed to enjoy it.
Jason Marshall vs AT-AT: Theses two Serenity veterans layed down the set of the night. I heard some new and amazingly superb tracks from AT-AT, while the entire set was woven together with clean and perscise mixing. It had been months since I had actually found a trance set that I could really get into, for this set, I was guilty as charged. I couldnt help but dance my phat ass off. I left as soon as the set was done, I didnt want anything to ruin the sweet sounds I just heard.
The crowd was a perfect size for the venue, peaking at around 5 (no doubt unhappy LA kids looking for a good way to end the night). It was an energetic and ethused group of people, dancing was on everyones mind.

The Breaks Round:

Pure and utter madness! The response to this event was more then I could of ever hoped for. To say that Toronto has some sick dancers is a drastic understatement. To a crowd of over 400 onlookers the scene’s finest battled for well over an hour for the title of breaks king and queen. In the end, Steevedee won with his complex and educated manuvers while Amy outperformed any girl that dared to compete.
Complemetary prizes went to Nick and Mark.
The House Round:
(Jelo vs Decepticon)
Although a late start, round 2 proved to be just as much fun. Sean and Kate were our esteemed judges for this round and handed out victories to Dan and Sabrina. They just ate up every beat and put on a truly amazing display.
The Trance Round:
(Jason Marshall vs AT-AT)
Lisa regained her title from the last Dance Off after tearing up the dancefloor and showing the crowd all the new moves she had picked up over the last year. You thought she was good before? Pft! Man, can this woman ever break it down. Oliver (aka The Guy on the Couch) showed the most original and flowing moves I had ever seen. Ever! I swear to god this guy moves like you would not believe. He said he could dance, I didnt believe him, that kid sure did prove me wrong.
Special thanks go out to Sean, Kate and Dan for being judges for the night. Robb’s knack for being late disqualified him from his judging dudies.
All in all, it was your typical Serenity party, an amazing party with amazing people.
Brad, Chris, Willar and the rest of the Serenity crew, great work guys. You once again gave Toronto an epic night of partying.
But after four Saturdays in a row of ‘raving’, I think its time for me to head back to clubland. We shall see everyone at Turbo next week.

ok...first off..my partner Squirt was off the hook...goddamn that was sweet...i hope everyone liked my nu-skool/dark breaks with Squirts turntablism cuz i sure did...look for more from myself and Squirt in the future...much respect to the breakers in the danceoff although i couldnt see anything due to the overpowering flood lamps in the booth =)...and ofcourse, we can't forget MC Chris103.5, wicket =)...i had such a good time, i am sorry i had to leave for london right after my set...much respect to jelo and decepticon and i hope your set turned out great...

Well a big, big thanks to all that came, i hope everyone had at least a decent time. We put alot of work and effort into this party, and hopefully it showed through...i actually got to meet alot of peeps ive never met b4 (except you laura!!
), and got to have quite a few drinks with alot of people i did get to meet!!

I want to thank Dose the Alien for coming down and impressing some folks, he was more than enthused on the reception he got, and how people reacted to his set. As we were walking around the venue, people were coming up to him and commenting on how great his set was. Suffice it to say he was impressed with how incredible the people were, and commented on how much he wanted to return.

I just woke up from a 14hour hibernation state and I must say that I had an amazing time at Serenity this weekend.
A big thank you to everyone who made it out to support us and we hope you all had an enjoyable evening.

I had a wicked time, as always at Serenity, with a few small dissapointments. I got there just before 2am, hoping that I could make it to the bar in time. After a short delay behind the ticket booth (thanks guys) I made it to the bar just in time to buy the two WORST GIN & TONICS OF MY LIFE. Bleah! I couldn't even finish the first one. Flat tonic and shitty gin. That'll teach me to buy something that's not pre-sealed and bottled from SkyLounge.
Otherwise the night was great. I couldn't really get into Dose the Alien, his mixing and track selectiion were good, but his programming could have been better. It felt like as soon as he'd play one or two tracks of the same genre, he would switch over to something completely different. He started off with a psy track, and I got all excited, and 5 minutes later he was playing techno, then trance, then housey stuff.
AT-AT and Jason Marshall were stellar! Sweet trance goodness. This was followed by DJ X and D-monic who also kicked my ass. I really enjoyed the visuals that have become commonplace at Serenity parties, it was fitting to see the 5 deadly venoms, as well as that sweet final battle from Enter the Dragon with the bear claw in the hall of mirrors.
Good party, good times.

Good times all around at this party. The people were great, the music generally was kickin and what made my night beautiful was the people I was with. There is nothing better than partying with friends, having a good time, and seeing them smile.

It was only my second party and I really liked it. I really really loved Jason Marshall and AT-AT. The only part that I didn't like about the party was the smoke machine....
but all in all it was a good night.

Well, as usual, I wasn't quite sure if I was going to this party...I had a midterm monday morning, and the fact that it was out in etobicoke made me a bit unsure as to wether or not Id be able to get back home (downtown) in time to get a decent sleep ...24hour ttc accesible my ass!
...I used to have a huuuuuge reputation of showing up at places after I had said I definetely wasnt going...and after last week's ATM episode, coupled w/ sat. night, I think Im creeping back into it
...I got to the party around midnite, and to my great delight Capital J was on the decks - I knew I wasnt going to get to hear too much jungle tonight, so it set a nice mood for the rest of the evening...headed straight to the 19+ area, and of course found everyone chilling up there with beers in their hands (Dave
)...I was only there until around 3:30, so I dont have too much to comment on in the way of music...I missed the dance-offs, although major cheers goes out to steviedee for apparently blowing a hole in the roof with his styles...The main thing I want to comment on was the vibe...I dont even really know how to explain it...From the moment I got in, I felt like I was in a good friends basement (this is NOT a bad thing btw)...everyone seemed just chilling, and so relaxed...everyone was having a wicked time...It didnt have that intense crazy sketchy druggy vibe that so many parties seem to have lately...I know that description didnt do the vibe any justice at all, but I could write till my fingernails fall off and I still wouldnt have captured it...If you were there, you know what Im talking about...If you werent, you'll just have to come to next serenity to check it out...overall I had an amazing time, and I still managed to kick ass on my midterm monday morning!

McBee: I'm sorry I couldn't attend Sean's intimate Breaks gathering at Audiowerks... I went through a crazy weekend of uncertainty and didn't even decide to go to Serenity until 7pm, and I went from London straight to the party and back. Made it to Etobicoke, but never even downtown. Anyway, I owe you big time!
As for the dance off, yay me!
