Scrolling through former ravers on LinkedIn's "People You May Know"

My friend Natalie, once a raver (and actually still a raver at heart), suggested I perk up my linked in profile and bring it up to date. I hadn't been on linkedin in years so it was kind of an interesting exercise.

The linkedin "People You May Know" suggested connections part was totally fascinating! LinkedIn must have used some kind of time-warp rave algorithm to come up with a gallery of connections like that! It contained hundreds of people, all or most former ravers or warehouse-party people, all grown up and serious looking, with serious jobs.

Some, of course, are still in music related fields (producer, artist, mood enhancement professional, etc.) but most have jobs with titles like ...analyst ...manager . It was like a rogues gallery of the scene +20 years!

Some seem to have aged better than others. Some have tried extra hard to look businesslike. Some don't seem to give fuck. Some try to look businesslike but have a small element in their image that provides a touchstone to the past: a bit of wall graffiti, for example. Others' images are overly contrived - kind of the way a teenage girl will take 400 selfies with their phone that are pretty much the same, just to get the right 'look' for their profile pic.

Truly an amazing thing to see - it is like an anthropological database of what happened to the rave scene.

I wonder if I should start posting the 'before' pics to compliment these 'after' pics?

Man, I am seeing people in that "People You May Know" gallery that I haven't seen in years! Some look pretty much the same. Others, well holy crap!!! Suit and tie, short or no hair! LOL!

I had a similar 'whoa' moment when receiving a call from our Provisioning Manager at Q9 who wasn't just a Mike Stein but the Mike Stein. He was escalating an issue into our group and all I wanted to talk to him about was PF.
